I guess everyone will say mcnulty was Robins best signing but Hyam looks like a find. I knew nothing about him at all but he looks like he’s been playing in a first team for years

I still prefer Davies to Hyam to be honest. I'd be happier with a Willis/Davies partnership, although Hyam is a more than adequate back up. Good that we have 3 decent central defenders.

Hyam will continue to prove to be a top player. Enjoyed watching him so far this season. Fantastic bit of business extending his contract.

Doyle was the best bit of business last season, replacing him successfully will be the bet bit of business this season. Jury is out on Ogogo.

Easily the best CB when in possession. Was a 'bob each way' signing at the time who has proven his worth.

In short, I agree.

I think he actually came with a decent reputation, a ‘one to watch’. I read an article about him (possibly posted on here) which had him listed as such. Albeit it was written a year or two before he arrived.
Looks like a really good footballer. Not blessed with great pace, or height, can read the game though.

In the home game against Yeovil, he got shown up for pace for one goal that I remember in particular. However, he does seem to read the game well and is probably the most comfortable/composed on the ball of those at the back (quite like Mason's composure, too)

Yeah I remember that. One of the few times he’s made a bad decision...he opted to try and beat their man in a race for the ball as opposed to running back into position.

Don’t really want him back.

6' 2" the modern 5' 10".

I can't remember anyone suggesting Jim Holton lacked height who was in reality 6' 1"

I also like Davies, but it's about partnerships at CB and Willis/Hyam have different attributes that compliment each other well and look like a good pairing. The other thing to look at in Yeovil game was Rod McDonald was playing and he had totally lost his way around then which exposed Hyam more. At the start of last season I though RMD could also be decent, but perhaps masked by other areas of the pitch being better.

it a club like ours, with limited resources you will get a chance. This lad grabbed his with both hands. Be interesting to see how far he can go.

I don't think the Yeovil game is a good example for judging defenders.
We forgot that you have to defend even when you are attacking, and ended up playing Kyel Reid at LB

This time last year we’d be saying Rod Mcdonald looked a great find... all to early to commit on this years crop.

Dom Hyam has grown massively with correct management over last season and took some games like Yeovil as a learning curve to be strong and dependable in the play offs matching up to the physical approach. Very similar to Tom Davies in his attributes.
Doyle came in and did what a gaffer wants any leader to do too.

Jordan Willis is my player to of grown the most as a player under MR, very consistent performer ever since late last November/early December against a range of strikers now.

The people who gave player ratings cumulatively made Davies MOM in both the two games he has played, Oxford in the Cup and Wimbledon - by some way in the latter case

Agreed - but who would you drop? Doesn't send a great message and he'll get his chance again, up to him to then keep it. I think the two in possession deserve to keep the shirt until they're injured/suspended/lose form.
