Crikey how poor were Benno and Lorna Bailey yesterday !

loved Bennet as a player for City but their post Match analysis was embarrassing. It was like listening to 2 people new to the sport but trying to blag it.

Listening to them explain why we would be better not to go up this season and go up next season instead was painful.

football isn’t like that…. You take promotion when ever you can. Ask Barnsley fans …. Play offs one season, fighting relegation the next !

I hate this comment. You always take success - there’s no right time to plan it, it was levelled at us when we won league one. Football is all about adapting
Peoples shared amnesia is so funny.

Start of season - not improved so relegation battle
First 3 months - we’re going up automatically
Now - can’t believe we’ve not pushed on

If fans can’t se we’ve progressed they’ve lost the plot.

We haven’t decided not to go up or taken our foot off the pedal. We’ve competed in every game I’ve seen

I generally listen to the Friday / Monday / after match phone in on listen again - mostly when going for my daily walks
Clive I think has got better over the last few seasons. Yes he gets things wrong but that’s part of the fun
Oggy is great at providing an insiders perspective although how he keeps his cool with some of the callers is admirable
Bennet is simply embarrassing - I’m not sure if it’s him a a person or more the ego from our fans treating him as god.
Micky Gynn who was on a week or so ago was poor and not realistic of the season.

Above all though the callers are awful. Some demanding we spend millions, Nick from Birmingham who never goes, people asking about tickets (just look on the website) people demanding 2 up front when we have just payed 2 up front and still not scored…

Still…I tune in.

probably says more about me to be honest…

Every week there’s someone like this…

“were you there today?”
“No I listened to your brilliant commentary on the radio”
“Ok, what would you like to say”
“I thought Godden had a good game today” 🤦🏻‍♂️

I made a similar observation during the match thread
Benno is like one of those fans who supports the club but rarely watches games and knows bugger all about most of our players and virtually zero about the opposition
In comparison Oggy is always illuminating on tactics and the opposition's strengths and weaknesses and gives a genuine insight into what's going on
Benno seemed to have little idea of what was happening but it was funny when we scored and he exploded with joy

Benno sat near me for the 2 previous matches, but never for the whole match. Stands there waving at somone somewhere while the match is going on, sits for awhile then wanders off.

He gives very little insight into what's happening in the game, not sure if that's because the game has changed so much since he played but his commentary didn't seem like that of an expert

i wish people would stop comparing us to @Barnsley, they are a pathetic small club who are massively over achieving to be at this level. Teams like Preston, Blackburn, Luton, Shef United have all dropped to lower leagues but have settled again in the Championship.

just after the final whistle yesterday Bennett was joking about getting extra added minutes due to the pitch invader - almost congratulated the twat.

you could tell Clive ( before Lorna took over) was embarrassed and wanted to tell Bennett to shut up

I think Lorna did the phone in yesterday which allowed Clive to complete the interviews (Oggy was absent due to COVID)

I do think Bennett sounds pissed when he’s on.

also, this is probably just me, but I don’t like it when he screams ‘yeah’ over Clive when Gyokeres scored… i much prefer Clive’s response to goals, especially last ditch ones, such as Tavares the other week.
manc I think it’s unprofessional As well.

Rant over.

One guy on the Friday call in was insisting we limit Nottingham Forest and Birminghams away allocations next season as they only gave us a few this year and he couldn't get a ticket...

I think after everything it’s silly to be petulant to Brum about tickets. Half of their stadium is shut hence they can only offer 1900, which I still think is generous considering they can only get 10K of their fans in there. After everything the least we can do is be understanding. It’s not 1900 because of spite.

Forest are and always have been dickheads about allocations. Still don’t think limiting allocations is right just because Geoff from Berkswell couldn’t get a ticket.

Chatted to Benno after the game in the casino and he was definitely pished.

I think the callers we get are beyond pathetic, like the bloke that rings up on a Monday and asks Clive when the club shop is open, as Clive then goes a Google search for him. Google it yourself you spanner!

Surely we'd also be losing out on money by limiting away fans?
Think Clive said something similar

Think it was the same guy who says he doesn't like Ben Sheaf and wants Jodi Jones up front in a 442.

It's compulsive listening, I love it (and I genuinely really like Clive and Oggy)

Thats a daft idea as the club needs the revenue. I expect he'll be the first to moan if we we transfer out any saleable asset.

Agreed. We’ve come on leaps and bounds, but we just do not have the depth to make the playoffs. We’ve had too many injuries.

Unlike Barnsley, I do think we’ll keep our better players and they will develop as we have a youthful side. Gyo and O’Hare are v good players but have limitations that need work before they can take the next step. Hamer is the most likely key player to leave.

Robins has said they’ll be a lot of activity in the summer and that needs to be the case.
