Having watched last nights Super Cup between Barcelona and Real Madrid one can only wonder what planet the English game is on.

Where is the 6' 5" centre Forward in the Barca team, where is the hoof ball, where is the constant back passing ???

They really play football the basic way as it is intended in that, passes go to feet, one touch control, wave after wave of attackers, switching back to defend in numbers, defence splitting passes, a range of ferocious/subtle shooting; the list is endless.

All players appear to be comfortable on the ball always looking for attacking options nad using the width of the park.

Our 100 mph game has its attractions but Iwould love to see some of our clubs adopting the Barca fooootball phyolosophy woulln't you ???

I think that AT has picked up on the basics, which is why he likes possesion and keeping the ball on the ground. Now we don't have a squad full of world cup winners so we will never be near that level, but I think thats the kind of football we are trying to play. We are creating the chances but don't have the top class strikers to put them away.

Good reply Rich

AT has definitely ditched the hoof ball mentality from CCFC but as you say we haven't quite got the tools yet to complement the style front to back on the park.

I believe when/if we get a few goals and points in the bag AT's style will look even better.

we need the man up front to be safe, some quality guys elsewhere on the park could easily see us mid/high table. 1 player could make us safe, 3/5 players could make us dangerous and that's what's frustrating. At the moment we are neither.

The way they play is on another level, but the self-proclaimed moral guardians of football can stick 'més que un club' up their ass.

If Pep Guardiola was in charge of CCFC and had the lads knocking it about like Thorn has there would still be some calling for him to be sacked.

Pep "knocks it about" to go forward with ambition.

Thorn "knocks it about" for the sake of it.

I hate the Barcelona (and Messi) love-in personally and find their style of play boring.
