Bill Shankley to Tommy Smith "get that poof knee bandage off, by the way it's not your knee, that knee belongs to Liverpool".

Well said. I understand what you are saying.

With all the off the field stuff I hadn't even realised that Baker was injured for the Brentford game.

Moussa's already playing outwide left. It will probably be Manset or possibly Garner will come in.

Nothing like disrupting the team to cover one absence....

So you advocate putting a right back in right midfield, a lad who has been playing centre half all season back to right back, bringing in another centre half to play with Webster (ie somebody who he has played with) so going your way potentially you are unsettling the whole defence.

Daniels has a hip injury, played well in his 1st 2 games but was very poor in the final game covering Baker.

Injury? A gracious way to drop the captain. Elvis and Rioch at least are flickering lights of hope for our club.

...and Tommy Smith knees are now made of plastic & he's been claiming disability benefit for many many years....

Shankley was a great manager...of that there can be no doubt....be he didn't half talk a massive load of shite.

Most managers did back then, they still do. But it's more quotable than "the players are really disappointed" or "I didn't see it myself".

Anyway "get your haircut young man before you speak to me"

Or Barton with him or Thomas on the right? Neither are natural wide men but our wide players have been playing narrow anyway coming inside so may not be much of a problem

Would have to be Barton out wide in that scenario, fleck needs Thomas to do the ball winning and win second balls for him, also moving Thomas out wide is making 2 changes and what happens if Thomas struggles out wide, does he or Barton get binned off when baker or Daniels returns?
