“It's been great working with Carso (Lee Carsley) to be honest because of who he is,” Baker told the Observer. “I think he's done really well since he's come in.

“He hasn't made many changes but he's got us pressing a little bit harder so I think he's doing a good job and all the lads love playing under him.

“We don't really here much or know what's going on off the pitch so we just have to show him the respect he deserves and keep putting 110 per cent in every single time we

play.

“I've not got a bad word to say about him. We obviously want to keep winning for him and there's still a lot of football to be played.”

If the players are calling managers Carso/Shawsy etc then they don't deserve to be managers!

Gaffer/Boss only for me. Shows respect and authority.

I agree with SB1991, these footballers and their cringeworthy nicknames,

Boss or Gaffer is sufficient.

Nearly as annoying as the plebs on here calling McDonald by his first name.

Nicknames show good bonding throughout the team surely?

You can have bonding without nicknames though. For me, it just shows that LC/RS is a mate, not a manager.

and if he hadnt have stupidly given the ball away against swindon for the equaliser, we would be a bit more optimistic now. And his mate carso, may have kept the job

It could always just be a name and not some sign of a lack of discipline or whatever people try to read into what's essentially a fluff article.

I like to think I'm a mate and a manager of the people I work with/work for me.

I guess it's more to do with the attitude and commitment of the player. To some it won't make a difference calling him Carso, others will believe they can take advantage. However, those are the ones who would be likely to be shipped out and I think it makes no difference. If we were getting the results it woudln't be questionned.

Yes in the team but no way to the Manager. It is normal at a football club for even the senior staff right up to the Chairman to call the manager Gaffer, just a point of respect.

No, it leads a to a lack of respect and a lazy culture, look at the Thorn era, once Robins came in the culture at the club changed, results improved.....

I think it is more to do with the intelligence of the people you have working for you agaisnt that of the average 3 rd division footballer!!

I'd wager there was more difference between Thorn and Robins than nicknames or a perceived lack of respect.

How many times do you hear a Man Utd player refer to their boss as "Fergie"?

A player referring to the manager as "Carso" in public definitely connotes a lack of authority. At the very least it shows that he, and the players, knew that Carlsley was not going to be the next manager.

Baker was quoted in the CT about how the players wanted Shaw, and before that Thorn, to get the City job.

I think if the players start calling Pressley 'Dear Leader' it would show he's got more than respect

Could always go with "Don" that would should ultimate respect!

anything else is just an insult and players can expect horses heads in the beds as well as burgers
