Just reading an old thread on the walsall forum when they heard we were looking to sign Baka.
I remember after we signed him he started well and scored against them before they got relegated however its now looking more like they were right about Baka not being interested.

He certainly hasnt started this season like he did when we first signed him. Has bringing in other strikers upset him or is he a player who once signed only puts the effort in when he can be bothered

Bakayoko

Has been poor in the games I’ve seen him this season, would be happy to see him loaned out and another brought in but can’t see that happening at this late stage.

He was a disgrace that night. I’ll say it again he isn’t good enough for pro football. Controversial I know but hasn’t the heart or desire for giving commitment week in week out. Expect him gone in January.

We were warned about him by Walsall before weren’t we?

This thread seems very mean spirited and serves zero purpose.

Baka didn't even play at the week-end and clearly is going only to be used off the bench this season.

As a fan of CCFC, he has my full support off the bench. He has not been a disaster for us and it's unfortunate that certain posters on here continuously try and find a scapegoat. Jesus wept - support the lads on the pitch - and leave it to Robins to evolve the team (he's pretty good at it).

Don’t think that’s a fair comment, the
OP asked a reasonable question and got answers imo correct ones. Nobody is knocking him, if this as you say is a mean spirited thread that serves zero response why have you responded ?

1. Nobody is knocking him - are you being serious? Just read the responses.
2. I'm responding as the attacks on Baka are far too personal and as in a previous debate knock confidence and divide the team and fans.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never really rated Baka but I find it really strange that he’s kind of gone from cult hero (20 goals Bakayoko) to everyone’s number one villain after one game (granted it was a horror show but it’s not like he usually pulls up trees). Everyone keeps mentioning his head or heart not being in it; I think that’s the harsh part. He usually works his arse off but his ability is extremely limited. You can’t really fault the guy for his effort, and if robins has put him in the team as long as he puts effort in, you can’t really fault the individual

I didn’t see that game but in his defence it was always going to be difficult for a limited player to have an impact against a premier league side

Total waste of money, waste of a shirt, and waste of a squad position.
His attitude is piss poor, he is totally unprofessional and serves as a very bad example to the younger members of our squad.

I will give 100% support to players who show pride, passion for the shirt, and commitment for the challenge, but I reserve the right to publicly criticise any player who falls short of what is expected of them, on or off the field (eg Hickman)
I expect professional sportsman to act in a professional manner, i can accept a lack of talent, but never a lack of effort.
Is that really too much to ask?

Blimey! What’s he done other than not be as good as you want him to be? Unprofessional?! Does he turn up late for matches/swear at the mascots/decide to wear his own kit? Please explain!

This is the way I would see it too. I think he always works hard and gives everything. He shows glimpses of potential but overall his contribution has been disappointing. His performance at Watford was awful.
Following on from Robin’s comments last week, I would much sooner see Bakayoko go out on loan today than Biamou. I know we haven’t seen much of Max at this level. However, based on his time in Year 2 I think that he is the better footballer of the two and is more likely to make a significant contribution to the team.

The guy clearly dosnt try, dosnt put a shift in, dosnt put himself about, dosnt appear to give a shit.
What more is there to say.
I've also stated on here, that I dont think Biamou is good enough for this division, but I've never accused Biamou of not putting in 100% or of not being bothered.

He might not be ripping up trees but I suspect if he were unprofessional/not following Robins’ instructions he’d have been pulled from the team a long time ago. Robins doesn’t strike me as someone that’s afraid to do that ie brown, ogogo.

MR brought in Godden for big money, and I suspect once Biamou and Kastaneer are fully match fit that Bakayoko may well find himself surplus to requirement.

I am not really a fan of Baka but maybe we are playing the wrong system to suit him, look at JCH he struggled to hit a cows arse here now he is scoring quite a few goals for Bristol, so maybe a change to suit the player rather than the team at times would help. Also look at Max playing left mid...fuckin dreadful

It makes you wonder why we've recruited so many players who dont suit our style of play,
Ogogo being another strange signing.
But in Bakayoko's case, Walsall fans did warn us that he was shit and bone idle!

While he hasn't been very good I wouldn't say he is bone idle.

After all, he's the only player I've seen score for us with his arse from closing the keeper down.

Bakayoko isn't bone idle, I don't think that's fair. He is just inconsistent, he can get himself across defenders to get on the end of crosses (see the goal at Charlton and home to Walsall) but just doesn't do it often enough, he's too static.

In response to supporting the lads, if he plays or comes of the bench then of course he should be supported as much as possible. Discussing his attributes and weaknesses on a forum is a different thing. Should we all just come on here and say "all of our players are amazing"? Be rather dull. I don't like that some people turn it into something bordering on abusive, and I think the accusations of him not trying are harsh (I can think of two occasions just this season off the top of my head where he's closed down the opposition and help win us possession, as well as the goal he got last year from doing so). I think he has that demeanour and body language of appearing to put in little effort.

But when you look at his actual abilities it is hard to see what his strengths are. He's not pacy, he's big but not very good in the air, he's not overly great at hold up play, nor is he a clinical finisher or taking up great positions to at least miss chances.

You can have all types of forwards, from goalscorers to targetmen, pacy strikers playing on the shoulder of the last man, good movement off the ball or good hold up play and laying it off. I just can't see Baka as any of those. He's just.....there.

He is nowhere near the player Godden is and we need someone putting pressure on Godden but Baka is miles apart from him

I love max but I do think his footballing skills are limited probably from missing a few years when getting his degree. It’s why he struggled playing wide left as he doesn’t have the all round footballing skills that come from playing in various positions in an academy. Baka has more all round skills. What max does is look like he’s giving his all and understands how important this is to supporters

to say he's bone idle is ridiculous, i don't think we've ever had a striker who closes down clearances etc as well as Baka does (granted, it's not the stand-out quality that you want from a striker, but you can't say he isn't good at it).

After his debut(?) at Blackpool last year, I thought he was terrible, and would've agreed with most comments on here, but he definitely improved as the season went on.

Godden is a step up from both Baka and Max, so if one of them was to go out today I wouldn't be too despondent

To his credit he does chase down the opposition keeper regularly, its the rest of his game which lets him down.

The difference is Bakayoko hasn’t ever scored goals - he’s a terrible signing - you can say that’s the manager not the player but the player is to me not just poor but lacks heart and commitment - if oggy is right and we really invested £350,000 in him that is a criminal waste of money

Yes the Sean Flynn approach. Chase a cause you know you can’t win and oddly avoid one that may result in a collision
