He's done it more than once .Its effectively a CM in this system.
I think it was a combination of BTA not as effective out wide and Eccles not quite at it first half
EMC coming on just seemed to align everything

I agree with the first bit about Eccles but not the second, the tactics were wrong against Wrexham, we were outnumbered and dominated in midfield.Eccles isn't a 10. He's not attacking or creative enough.
Bta was great there and won lots of headers to bootso was it "awfull" tactics Vs wrexham or just fans having a clueless rant because we finally lost?
Was it just what lampard said though in terms of compete levels?I agree with the first bit about Eccles but not the second, the tactics were wrong against Wrexham, we were outnumbered and dominated in midfield.
Which is why I think Lampard felt he had to play an extra midfielder tonightI agree with the first bit about Eccles but not the second, the tactics were wrong against Wrexham, we were outnumbered and dominated in midfield.
But that formation collapsed second half against WrexhamWas it just what lampard said though in terms of compete levels?
The formation with bta as part of front 4 has won us so many games in rudonis absence after all
So one half against what 5-6 wins???But that formation collapsed second half against Wrexham
Yeah the threads daftSo one half against what 5-6 wins???
It was too early for a thread like this
Well if you put it like that, something about this squad was obviously different when he's been on before as he's had plenty of opportunity from 18yds before, but I actually agree Torp should have played the advanced role.Proven?
One game Vs 10 man Birmingham?
He's a central midfielder simple as that
I agree, but with Rudoni out i don't really think we have an obvious answer and BTA in the 10 is just making the best of the situation. Hopefully just one more against Stoke then Rudi is back after the break. It's clear to me we need someone who can play that position in the Jan window.Limited sample size but the stats seem pretty clear to me:
With Rudoni starting (Hull, Derby, QPR, Oxford, Norwich, Leicester): Avg xG: 1.97 Avg xGA: 0.8
With BTA starting centrally (Sheff Wed, Blackburn, Watford, Wrexham):
Avg xG: 2.1 Avg xGA: 1.55
We are giving up significantly more chances when we play a 2 man midfield - and if you exclude the Sheff Wed game those numbers drop to xG 1.16/xGA 1.7.
Playing a 2 man midfield is not sustainable.
So either of Rudoni and BTA will be required to produce an exceptional outlet or when Rudi is back he's as prolific as second half of last season?Limited sample size but the stats seem pretty clear to me:

I wouldn't mind us using 5 at the back against Stoke, as we did at Portsmouth.I agree, but with Rudoni out i don't really think we have an obvious answer and BTA in the 10 is just making the best of the situation. I reckon one last push before the break and just try and batter them into submission. Fuck knows though, its an interesting one.I wouldn't mind us using 5 at the back against Stoke, as we did at Portsmouth.
Maybe, that's the way Frank planned it, that's the way Frank planned it ,to arrive at this game finish with a flourish?.I reckon one last push before the break and just try and batter them into submission. Fuck knows though, its an interesting one.
