Well when i went this year i thought it was wank

Im talking generally every match they play. We dominated from the start so that's kept them quite.

Alex Neil quote him from yesterday just said their crowd played a part in their player sent off.

Love the old stadiums crowd literally on top of you. Can't beat the older stadiums for atmosphere.

It's still good imo, maybe just not as good as it was. Live And Die in These Towns is still superb, I imagine it is relatively intimidating in the away ends. What with the fireworks and grey sky it felt more like an evening game than a 12:30 kick off.

Some of the newish songs just have no pace to them and that doesn't help. We still have Let's All Sing Together, but it needs to be belted out with passion and keep going to the end. It is distinctly and uniquely Cov.

Twist and Shout started yesterday, but for me it is a song which works best when either 3-0 up of 5-0 down. Despite no obvious threat, I was too nervous to sing during the last 10 mins that all WBA needed was one chance to snatch a draw, when we really should have been 5-2 up or so..

It doesn't spread enough around stadium. By block 21 onwards it starts to fall away

Rubbish they’ve had to reinforce the stands because it bounces so much and Southampton council are about to sue for the excessive noise

I went to Anfield in the 90s, Saturday game just before Christmas. I think the gate was about 33k and it was really quiet. It's an utter myth.

Is it ok to have a different view London? I’ve been watching clips of games at HR from the mid 80s - atmosphere is non existent. Also late 70s, Cov at Newcastle. Again very quiet.

On a completely different point (and nothing to do with your point) not that long ago as we were crashing out of L1, I remember the CBS with around 6-7,000. Never thought I’d see a day with average gates of 29-30. You could even argue that if the CBS could hold a few thousand more we’d be hitting our highest ever average gates of around 33-34K under the Hill era.

My view for what it’s worth is that the atmosphere at the CBS is not only exceptional for the Champ but is better than the majority of Prem teams. We should be very proud of it.

I have been to Anfield many times to support us and its normally as dead as can be apart from their goals scored and their anthem. In 77 we played them in the league cup and took thousands and that was a great night.
I have seen Liverpool on a couple of big nights and it was just wow. Guess we are not a wow opponent for them?

When the CBS is loud, the acoustics are amazing and it's deafening.

When it goes quiet, it's eerily silent and you can hear the players shouting.

People do forget , but this was against peterborough 4 years ago .. play from about 1 minute onwards that corner is nuts and so so loud

As someone who's been to Fratton Park a few times (Cov games and then spare tickets from mates/business invites), I'd say they're noise levels can be some of the best in the league. I agree with a comment before about their noise levels last season when they spanked us 4-1 - it was proper loud from them that day.

And you ask fans of any Championship social media page who the 'best and loudest' fans are, I'd say the majority always say Pompey.

That said, the CBS is great when it really gets going. I think the weather definitely plays a big part. When it's dull and wet, people are naturally less inclined to get involved.

In terms of away fans, I'd say we're definitely the loudest and those 'best and loudest' comments on social media, often has us as the best travelling support.

I'm begrudgingly taking my lad to Fratton Park this coming weekend with his pompey supporting grandad. Hopefully it'll be the last time he wants to go. The one thing that is sh!t about Pompey fans is their lack of songs. Other than PUP and Blue Army, they've got nothing of substance.

We were by a mile the best atmosphere in the country at this point.

It was rocking from half an hour before the game and did not stop once.

It helps when they have the home end 99.9% full every game.

They travel incredibly well too. Wont say im that impressed with their away noise..but at home its incessant.

Never ever heard as much incessant noise.
