Stoke’s ‘Be with you’ players entrance song is a belter. I wish we did a hymn too like Albion fans, sounded great on Saturday.

Yeah same, feels proper Serie A.
Nearly had a heart attack at the Birmingham game earlier this season though as it was completely unexpected.
Thought we were under attack for a second

Portsmouth similar - 'Blue Army' and 'Play up Pompey' literally all they had in their locker when we played them. Best atmosphere in the league my arse.

Gradually but definitely getting worse both home and away

Fans shushing and singing football in a library to mask the lack of singing ourselves etc .

You wouldnt think the club were top of the championship by 12 points

At this point the excuse book has been played out ..the atmsophere is just shit now

To be fair Evo, I am recovering from man flu, and had the mother of all throats yesterday. Still mouthed and made vague noises for some of the songs, and aggravated my throat by shouting at the events on the pitch (despite promising my wife that I wouldn't) Normal service to be resumed at Southampton (hopefully) and in Singers Corner on Boxing Day. I do agree that it's got worse, and if the drummer gets 'bored' it seems to have a knock on effect with the rest of the crowd,

Edit: two blokes next to me left 10 minutes from half-time (not the usual ST holders who sit there) having barely muttered a word, and left the game with their mate over 15 minutes from the end. Really don't get that.

Yesterday I took my Dad and eldest up to the game, usually I’d be in Block 13 but was in 24 for a change, and I thought the atmosphere was pretty poor with the exception of the first 5/10 minutes after kick off.

Bristol’s fans I thought were okay overall, but I was surprised that when they were singing stuff like “top of the league and still don’t sing” there was no response from Singers Corner at all.

For a team that is top of the league you’d think the atmosphere would be bouncing most games, but it seems to of gone the other way, there is a real nervousness from the stands which makes the atmosphere very dull. Not sure if there is a solution to it really, but makes me concerned if we start to go on a bad spell as I don’t see how the atmosphere can pick up to help the team.

What atmosphere yesterday.....

Maybe the lack of beer didn't help yesterday but it's been pretty flat for a few weeks now.

One positive. It might stop the inane references and questions about it by CWR.....

Here’s my take.. we are not playing like we did a few weeks ago, the fans know what can happen when we have a small squad.

Plus having Wright and Rudoni back seems to have impacted on how we play. Missing Asante and the energy of the whole team at the moment.

PS I think our drummer is a bit off piste at the moment. He just seems to be banging away without any real rhythm, purpose or co-ordination. Is he up to speed with our chants?

PPS. Just noticed another post reference the drummer.

I also dislike the bloody flames and fireworks. What a waste of money. Doug wants to max out on profitability. Does he think a bloody firework show is money well spent? I’d rather the money were spent on gifting match tickets to those unable to afford them.

WLADITT was also sung half-heartedly near us as well.

But the team needs to turn up as well. Simms deserves a start for one of them.

Lots in the corner trying but also lots in the corner standing or sitting silently. Seems like every other part of the ground sits and waits for EMC's chant to start. Bored reading folks criticising the atmosphere. Do something about it or shut up, FFS!

The lack of away fans doesn't help, Ipswich and Leicester will be different but not as good as if they were to bring 3000. I think it helps with a boisterous away following

The people criticising are trying.

There's not much you can do when thousands of new fans turn up and don't join in. That's not a pop either, I'm glad we have new fans but they are never going to be a noisy as those there in the tough days.

We miss the back and forth with away fans. It was a huge part of why the atmosphere was good. Unfortunately people didn't move over and now the section closest to the away end is a mix of families, general admission fans and a hardy few who want to stand.

Thought it was noticeably quiet yesterday but I think the issues are partly to blame- lack of beer and people in a bad mood.

We’ve also lost the air of invincibility we had, and stopped scoring for fun. You can see from the forum that most people just want us to get through December with a decent points tally.

Bristol really played up the library chants though, it was nowhere near as bad as many clubs in this league.

Shame we have to compare ourselves to other clubs in the division.

It's been getting worst for 18 months. No amount of beer, 3pm kick offs or winning a match changes that.

We've just turned into a standard Championship club. These are the things we've heard other fans talk about for years. It's a shame because I thought we would buck that trend.

Its not as simple as "do something about it" though is it? Sometimes when the crowd/atmosphere is flat, its flat. And no amount of trying to start songs works.

2 of the flattest away crowds ive sat in were away at FGR and an FA Cup 2nd round game at MK Don's. Both flat. A group of us tried numerous times to start up a few different chants at MK Dons and nothing caught. Just the buzz noise you get of people talking.

At FGR it was dire tbf. Dire on the pitch, dire off it, dire weather. No roof so any atmosphere we had was just disappearing.

We took nearly 8000 to the MK Don's FA Cup game though, and we won, so there was literally no excuse for the atmosphere being so flat.

Its all well and good sitting here saying g "do something about it or shut up", there's only so many times a man can stand amongst a few thousand other men and try and fail to start a chant. When you scream at the top of you voice "let's all sing together" and everyone around you doesn't reply with "play up sky blues", its demoralising, embarrassing, and immediately puts you off wanting to try again.

Yeah, I think our home support definitely bounces off louder hostile away support.
Some big challenges on the pitch also help rile the crowd up.

Away support at the CBS this season has been quite poor I think so far

I actually think the scoring for fun is the problem in a weird way. The place is almost expectant and doesn't feel the need to drive the team on to score because we almost feel that we're going to score anyway?

Plenty of trying up in Singer's Corner but mostly met with silence and refusal by most. Lots of people I've never seen before too which is strange considering I've had my ST up there since we returned, trying to gee up people who clearly have no clue of the songs or desire to join in is a hiding to nothing.

I think this is part of it too, Singers Corner has become renowned for being the best part of the atmosphere at the CBS, it gets mentioned in the Media, it’s where The Enemy wanted to play WLADITT, etc, it’s going to attract fans who aren’t necessarily interested in making the atmosphere as much as soaking it in. That’s fine by the way, people are paying their money to be where they want to be.

I will stand by that the atmosphere will ultimately respond to what is going on, on the pitch and yesterday it was very nervy at times which led to the nervousness in the stands, I do agree that another difference being from the old that days that you’ve alluded to compared to now is there was always a core group that would try and get something going even in the difficult moments, and I don’t see that now, didn’t hear it yesterday, nor have I seen it at times this season.

It definitely plays a factor the away fans being so far from the corner.

Atmospheres are always better with back and forth but Bristol city fans may as well not been there yesterday.

The absolute biggest reason.

There's a reason people loved to the corner in the first place.

Big opportunity missed with singers corner not moving behind the goal. I’m there now and it’s relatively quiet and there’s no chance of anyone moving there now.

We were never going to move in large numbers, people have various reasons for not moving and the gaps were just filled in with people who wanted to be close to the "atmosphere" but don't want to be part of it.

Exactly this. Stubbornness, that and a daft idea of nostalgia about "singers corner" which isnt even as old as the ground. The "atmosphere block" has moved several times. Its not like its the old West terrace or anything! Like you say, the chance has been and gone now. Opportunity missed. And I dont see any chance of rectifying it now, unless we do a Luton and do back to back relegations and end up in L1 again (praying this never happens).

We didn't move as my mate still buys his dead brothers seat and didn't want give up that seat yet. Is the stubbornness for the sake of it?

Genuinly think the till fiasco had a bearing on it

Concourse was like a morgue people milling around either thirsty or hungry and went to their seats early stood in the cold

I agree on the whole the atmosphere is wank this season and a lot of it is to do with the bandwagoners of the last couple of years and their expectation levels. Nervousness plays a part of course, but deep into added on time yesterday and there was nothing, a year or so back the whole ground would have been singing sky blue army or kicking every ball with the back line pushing that ball away from our goal.

Its a shame its gone

Lots of people have their reasons for staying and I fully respect that.

There's many that didn't move because the old drummer decided to stay.
