Personally, I’m looking forward to next season when we’re the Premier League underdog and our atmosphere will be praised more than our performances

Difficult to create a good atmosphere when there aren't many away fans. Can't have been more than a couple of hundred Swansea fans.

Will say as well it’s not only the players that the flu will have been going through. Was flat today. Crap songs. Crap game. Winter. Top of the league tension all play a part.

Thought the fans got behind the players when they needed it. The deck got us over the line.

Is everyone a fan though?
there are plenty of season ticket holders this year who were Liverpool or spurs fans the last year.

We had 22.5k season ticket holders last year. We have 24k this year. An extra 1500 season tickets, or 7% increase.

Of that 1500, how many do you think only started supporting us this season?

Don't think the group in front of me joined in with anything, two blokes on my left talked all game, phones out half the time, bloke behind only made noise to berate Simms if the ball went near him. One a couple of rows in front was sat down playing puzzle games on their phone the whole second half.

basically 'the corner' as a thing is dead. It's driven by a bunch of kids and the drummer. Every week it feels more like a I'm stood with a bunch of people who want to be in there to say they're in there. Most of them are carrying a card with 'Singers Corner' written on it. Fully don't get it. F*ck off to the Family Zone.

Directly behind us in block 24 yesterday there were a group of 6 American tourists, across and 10 rows down there was a guy who was visiting from County Antrim, at the Bristol City game I had a guy sat next to me who had travelled from High Wycombe. We are starting to get traction amongst people who have no local connection, this will affect the atmosphere to some extent?

Granted i watched it on TV, but the atmosphere sounded really poor for the majority.

Even the commentators (i know, hardly beacons of knowledge on fan matters) mentioned it a couple of times.

Its no different to most other championship grounds.

But we're "pissing the league", with a full house, on boxing day.

Its pretty disappointing from a fanbase bigging themselves as "best in the country" not so long ago.

Don’t get the constant worry about this.

times have changed we are now in different state, it’s not backs against wall, we are now top, which makes games nervous as every 3 points is critical…..that brings tense nature.

also the game state dictates - we are top, we are better than most teams, we know we will come back - that’s cool. Also brings different dynamic.

Ipswich is a big game, suspect that may be step up as everyone knows it will be a real game.

just enjoy the ride, enjoy this time, don’t worry wether someone is singing for 90 minutes non stop.

I love nothing more than watching quietly assessing the game!

Well, they he at least 8 coaches so I’m thinking at least 400 travelled. Nearer 1000 than 200.

Yep, a lot of hand wringing when the reasons are obvious. People making comments about SC now being full of this, that and the other. It's been sold out every week in that part of the ground for 3 seasons, it's the same people. We've had regular sell outs or near sell outs for several seasons. The people haven't changed, it's the circumstances.

It'll be rocking on Monday I think, and again, the reasons are pretty obvious.

It'll only go flat if a) we're losing or b) it's level and really tense. Therefore, you may well be right. That said, I'm having 2 halves of Foster shandy pre-match, so will be well up for a sing song.

It’s definitely dropped off but think a lot of that’s because we’re so close to doing something special. The last couple of months we’ve not played great but have got over the line at home. Think there’s lots of people me included half expecting the wheels to come off.

Then there’s the other issues with the stadium - public transport, service in the concourse, getting inside the ground and away at the end.

A444 closure is barking and that’s only causing issues on the adjoining roads so people leave early.

Appreciate it was Boxing Day yesterday but no trains on and bank holiday service on the busses made getting to the ground difficult yesterday.

Service at the bars is slow so people go down early to get food and drink.

The fan zone stuff is decent idea but it seems to mean people are turning up later to get into the ground.

First world problems but given we look to be going up we need some resolving especially given the teams that will be visiting next year with sold out away ends.

In Balcony Bar yesterday (and no divider between disabled fans and the rest this time: great to see), and JFC the speed of the staff again. I’ve honestly never seen such inefficiency in hospitality in my life. Some of the till operators seemed to have to type war and peace in one letter at a time. No one knew what beers were available without asking around. Food queues seemed OK but again not clear where to queue and staff just completely reactive all the time. Several members of staff just stood about. The queue to get in was miles long. There’s four people stood at the door, one slowly checking names on a paper list the others just stood about. Absolutely no impetus to work through the queue quicker. Same at the bars, two or three stood about in the background while the queue was four or five deep. Drives me nuts.

A444 is closure is non-negotiable and it would be difficult to go back on it given that car drivers are inclined to drive fast on that stretch of road/ the island. The other things can be improved.

I think those bloody fireworks stifle the atmosphere as does the loud music leading up to the game. Have music but let the fans generate the atmosphere. The drummer doesn’t really make things any easier because it’s like we have Les Dawson in B15.

Glad they ditched the flags.

Couldn't agree more, similar experience, has been the way for a while, I wanted to move behind the goals once it was opened up but friends wanted to stay. I may put forward a stronger case when renewals come round.

Some of the excuses for the atmosphere are laughable:
- too cold
- someone from Wycombe was sat next to me
- it’s nervy
- we expect to win
- we’re not the underdog

If that’s the case for the excuses for home atmospheres this season when we’re top of the league, I can’t wait for next season when we will (potentially) hardly play a Saturday 3pm and will be losing most weeks.

Boxing Day atmospheres are usually brilliant. Usually when teams are winning every week, the atmosphere is buoyant. Yesterday there were numerous half hearted PUSBs that died on Tottenham or Chelsea. There was plenty in the corner that didn’t have any intention of singing and added nothing to the atmosphere. If they want to stand and watch other people sing ‘to soak up the atmosphere’ we should make the North Stand the cuckold stand and they can fuck off there to watch someone else sing.

The new drummer hasn’t got it in him, he just keeps trying to get that silly Shrek song going again and again, another football league copy and paste song.

We need some new and originalish songs quickly but the excuses for another shit home atmosphere need to stop, particularly when so many of our fans take to social media to say how electric the CBS is and we always outsing the away fans.

The atmosphere was brilliant when we returned to the CBS up until the end of the 23/24 season. Now it’s a shadow of it’s former self.

Ridiculous to be complaining about the atmosphere. It seemed a hell of a lot louder than L2 games in Northampton.

When you only have around 500 away fans it's going to be crap, on a cold winters day too. It'll be better for the next 2 home games guaranteed

True but with several of the opposition teams boycotting and poor visiting crowds so far and future away teams now limited to 2000 expensive tickets, that isn’t that great an achievement in context.

Regardless of atmosphere, I never understand leaving early, going down for HT after 30 mins, and then subsequently being late back to seats.

Two blokes on the row in front of me do it every game. I personally enjoy the aftermath celebration.

There will always be the occasional reason to leave early, but I could count a handful of times I’ve done it.

HT beers aren’t standard for me, but whenever I’ve fancied it the queues are just mental. Even with the bars outside open. Yesterday the queue at the Camden Bar didn’t move for 5 minute and when it did they only had one set of taps working. Basic stuff - just get someone to change the barrel. Sorting these sorts of issues out negates the need for some people to leave early at HT.

We had a rather interesting chap sit next to us yesterday - never seen him before.

Clearly had a few drinks (and other things) prior to the game.

Tried to join in with some songs but looked like someone on an all inclusive holiday who was trying to join the karaoke after 12 pints.

Anyhow, my point is at 70 minutes he left us to “cash out his bets“ as he couldn’t get reception

Each to their own but clearly not invested in the football as much as others.

There’s someone near me who arrives 15 mins late for every game. Then disappears 10-15 mins before half time. Doesn’t come back until 10-15 mins into the second half and leaves early.

Might as well stay at home!

I tend to get there pretty early and the last few games I’ve noticed we don’t seem to have any music when the players are out warming up.

Used to be a decent playlist now it’s some sort of elevator music.

Not sure that has much impact on the atmosphere in the build up but it seems an odd change.
