AT saying Cody McDonald will be the league's top goalscorer next season (2 Viewers)

Can't see him going to Leeds, they're skint and don't like splashing the cash anymore. He'll probably go to one of the relegated teams, Wolves as a replacement for Doyle or Blackburn.

Andy you poor man, this season seems to have taken more of a toll on you than I thought. I'm sure there are pills you can take for your condition. The condition is called delusions of grandeur.

Cody has done fcuk all since he pulled on a sky blue kit. What is it? 3 goals?, 2? We should have had more from him this season.

It's 4 goals actually. I was fairly critical when he first signed as he was woefully short of fitness.

However, in the last 7 - 8 games he looked a bit better. He is not a player who will have a massive impact on a game unless he is scoring goals but he does seem like someone who comes alive in the penalty area. I think he will score goals in the division - 15 I would guess and if we have another striker with him capable of a similar return we are in business.

A big season for him in his career but let's not criticise 3 months before the season starts.

Thorn's making lots of bold statements already-he's saying the right things for sure. Problem is, he doesn't know when to stop with the optimistic quotes and can promise just a bit too much; applaud him for setting his sights high but should be wary of him creating a rod for his own back in the process.

Cody McDonald will be League One's top goalscorer, says Andy Thorn

ANDY Thorn may be lining up a couple of strikers to boost Coventry City’s bid to bounce straight back to the Championship but he’s convinced he’s already got next season’s top scorer on his books.

The Sky Blues boss believes Cody McDonald will recapture the prolific form that saw him rattle in 25 goals on loan from Norwich at League Two Gillingham in 2010/11.

The 25-year-old Essex boy managed just four from 23 games in a less than ideal first season at the Ricoh Arena which he went into without a firm base fitness and was then disrupted by almost three months out with a knee injury. But Thorn is backing his only outfield summer signing from last term to bounce back with a vengeance, insisting: “I’m looking at people like Cody, who will have a pre-season and he will be top goal scorer in League One – I have no doubt about that, I think he’ll score the most goals.

“He’s had so many chances to score goals and scored some as well but he’s going to be so much better for having a pre-season under his belt.

“The players need a break, to get away from it for a while, and I have told all of them that when they come back they have to come back with a positive mentality and a winning one for getting out of League One. “Everything is set up for pre-season and we’ll take it from there.”

Very brave statement from the manager there. Just hope it's not on par with his "There will be one more twist before the season is out" comment he made with just 3 more games of the season left.

Hope he's bloody right on this one.

Its a ridiculously big statement for Thorn to make. Stupid in my opinion.

I'd keep quiet if I were Andy. Nothing like making a complete idiot of yourself with statements like this when everything goes tits up!

AT knows Div3 better than any of us. At the start of last season we were at a disadvantage with an inexperienced manager and players.

Next season will be different. An experienced manager who knows about the division we are in and decent younger players. Hopefully Cody fit from the start. Lets add a few players to the squad without losing any more. I will then be the most confident pre season than I have ever been before.
