Don't know how many of you will agree but given where we were post Slade and our relegation, to bounce back up at the first attempt albeit through the playoffs and now be a decent league one side...given the squad, never ending issues with the board not least the farce with the Ricoh I've got to say for now I am content with how we are doing. Don't get me wrong there's only so long I'll accept us merely being competitive in a league like this but for now we are at least going in the right direction.

It's easy to slip into negativity after witnessing such a grim and toothless performance like today, but this was the norm for years...now I see it as a blip and fully expect a response next time out.

We need to bolster the club with some experience in key areas though if we are going to push on and I don't mean has beens.

Yeah I am happy enough with this season. Just because we've been erratic shouldn't obscure the positives; we've been pretty competitve and winning plenty of games.

Can't really disagree with this. Robins has gradually turned the club around and we are now stronger than we were before relegation. He has reduced the number of loans in the team and I'm sure there's a lot going on in the background that will kick in over time to benefit the squad . It's a long term fix, a slow burner and there will be troughs and peaks along the way.
Meanwhile the titanic is heading full steam in the general direction of an iceberg and an outside chance of promotion to the Championship will only ensure that we will hit it .

Of course mid table consolidation would mark Improvement

But we could finish 12th whilst scoring more goals so let's not pretend that fans don't have a right to be frustrated.

Of course we have made progress, but my frustration comes from the fact that I know we could make the play offs this season and that isn't going to happen.

It will take another 2-3 transfer windows for us to really be a force in this division and challenge at the top. If we finish around where we are now that will appease the majority and constitute progress.
Think we would have accepted that at the start of the season.

As long as we don't keep throwing big money at players who can't make the match day squad!

By that you mean Ogogo? Yep, seems a strange one that he isn’t even making the squad now-mind you, Brown didn’t either. :emoji_thinking:

I can't even blame ogogo or Allasani etc. Robin's just seems to take his sweet time implanting players and goes back to basics after every loss rather than ride it out

Surprised by the vitriol towards today’s performance. Don’t get me wrong, we were really, really poor first half, but we much improved after the break and were undone by an unlucky deflection and what looked like a great strike from the away end having not seen it back

When you have crap owners (sometimes even when you don't) you need a bit of luck as well as a handy bit of investment to have everything fit into place.

If I look at Cov from the outside looking in, I see a decent young manager for this level with a bit of pedigree.

A solid enough team when fit, just missing a bit of x factor. If we had a goalscorer we'd be pushing for the title.

You know the op is quite correct and we as fans do expect too much, I guess thats the problem of being an older fan at times ...expectation and supporting the Sky Blues has never been an easy experience, always on the verge of doing something then sticking it up us time and time again, but it does take a time to build a decent squad, we got lucky last year and got promoted obviously through the play offs and not being the strongest team in the league but hey we all need a bit of hope and luck at times
Robins has dragged 'our' club out of the gutter and we have 2 trophies in 2 seasons, quite a feat considering the years that proceeded it, as I started off saying it takes a while to build a decent team,we got lot of new players in but most of them haven't appeared to have strengthened us although with a couple of experienced decent players I think we could bring in a little more consistency than we have now, so I guess its back to trying to being patient and hope we can start rising even more...PUSB

And that’s if he gets the signings right his hands are tied some what don’t help with fuck ups like brown & ogogo but in robins defence we were told Ogogo was captain and players player etc and Brown was the best left back in the league.Players should take responsibility tbh they haven’t performed.

I think some....in fact many fans are settling for mediocrity. There is always a ready made excuse for failure. We should be setting our sights higher than this shit. FFS when have we actually really played well this season !?

Failure would be relegation. What would success be this season. ?

Clearly, like every club in this league, we want promotion, but surely challenging for play off with such a young squad in our 1st season back would at the very least be considered ok ?

I completely agree with the op. I’m constantly shocked at how some people seam to think we are watching players with the capabilities of those amounst the top six of the premier league!!

I sit I’m the same seat week in, week out and some of the barracking of our own team makes me think why the f*#k come up here if you can’t support young lads! We are going in the right direction for the first time in years!! It’s gonna be bumpy at times but it takes a while to turn right the ship and will never be plain sailing!

Just support them as much as we can and who knows where we can get at the end of the season!

Exactly the same as on here. Testing the very definition of the word "supporter"

Also have to add SOME of our ‘fans’ are an absolute disgrace. We were in the Berkeley before, full of great, friendly people, thought it was going to be one of those away games where we didn’t have our share of moany dickheads. The bloke in front of me was calling everyone a ‘f***ing c**t’ from minute 1, mainly cov players and he had three lads with him all under 10, one of which copied for the second half and he looked proud. Guy behind me shouted “YOU COST 500 GRAND” at Chaplin every time he touched the ball. Why the fuck do these people bother

We arnt getting promoted this season. Not through autos fact! Very slim outside chance of getting 6th place in front 2 of of Donny.. posh or charlton.

Would be happy with mid table.

Basically already looking to next season.

Strikers is a huge issue.if Jch started from game 1 he would probably have 10 goals already (if he took pens) possibly more. Would be first choice.

Problem is as usual our 4/5 best players of the season 2 are loans (sterling and Thomas) and 2 are out of contract Burge and Willis.

Just to tread water we have to replace our 4 best players this season.

We're currently 8th in League 1 whereas a year ago we were pushing the top six in League 2, how high are you realistically setting these sights?

If you knew football and watched us regularly enough you wouldn't need to be asking other people for the answer to those questions.

Realistically, we're having a decent season of consolidation. We were 6th in L2 last season, so 9th in L1 has to rank as good progress. You just have to remember how bad we were last time we were in this division and how much better we are now.

Yeah, maybe if we'd got the recruitment absolutely bang on this summer, with the momentum of last season we might have had a chance of playoffs (Ogogo was a huge signing on fee that's looking wasted, we've gone a bit quantity over quality with strikers, lack a left mid and Brown wasn't really worth signing). But not all transfers come off, that's football. Robins has a pretty darn good strike rate-just look what great free transfer signings McNulty, Kelly and Hyam were, for example?!? I'd say Davies, Mason and Grimmer were pretty great value, too. Not to mention that he gave us some pride back and instantly re-energised and re-organised the train wreck that was the team after Venus and Slade. He even won us some silverware in one of the worst seasons in living memory!

We've got a very young squad with plenty of potential that is getting better and will go again, stronger with more experience, next season. Yes Robins has his faults (being a touch too defensive being my own pet hate), but he's still better (and certainly more successful) than every manager we've had since, say, Eric Black? We have to be patient: we will have bad runs as well as good runs as confidence is everything with youngsters. But we're getting there. Stick with Robins and I'm very confident that we'll get promoted next season or the season after.
