I remember people bringing machetes into school and some from other schools bringing weapons to get people from other races.
Christie went to a Coventry school that was “surrounded by BNP voting areas” and where “race wars” were the norm.
“I saw someone have deodorant sprayed in his eyes, they tried to blind him so they could stab him.”
No it wasn’t that bad. Race wars in cov is laughable. I think there’s some artistic licence in that story. With this and Callum Wilson talking about cov recently either things have got a lot worse recently or I lived a very sheltered life! It wasn’t this bad in the 80’s & 90’s was it?!
Sorry Cyrus the white people have spoken. You had no race issues. Now let us move on

Who has said Cyrus hasn't had race issues?
What we're saying is Eastern Green isn't a BNP voting area and Woodlands hadn't had knife crime.
Is that a special bit at Sidney stringer for hench people?I went to Sidney Stronger for 2 years in the seventies.
It was classed as the worst school then even I saw no weapons, and fights were even a rarity.
To be fair CC4L I know it must seem condescending to hear white people saying there isn't an issue but I think pusbccfc is right, I don't think Eastern green is a hotbed of racial violence or any type of violence.
Think things were different for his dad and his uncles back in the day.
That's not to say I don't believe that he experienced problems but just feel they may have been exaggerated for the purpose of the article.. You may tell me I'm wrong any I'll respect that.
I witnessed more bullying and aggression from black kids when I was at school in the 90s than I did white kids, if anything, as a well brought up young lad, it was always black lads you feared the most.Sorry Cyrus the white people have spoken. You had no race issues. Now let us move on
Yeah your right , I also went to Woodlands, it was so strict you had to behave yourself.Jesus, he makes it sound like the ghetto. I went to Woodlands and other than the occasional fight it really wasn't that bad.
Nah u r spot on.To be fair CC4L I know it must seem condescending to hear white people saying there isn't an issue but I think pusbccfc is right, I don't think Eastern green is a hotbed of racial violence or any type of violence.

You went to Woodlands Nick ? F me.....Thought you were a King Henry sort....I saw loads of fights, none were based on skin colour or drugs or anything like that.
It's not exactly South Africa.
I was at school in the 90s though so just before him I'd guess.
You had lads with briefcases or lads with those cord or whatever back sacks !!On one side it had eastern green and mount nod, C1-type sleepy suburbia; on the other it had canley and tile hill, which can be a bit tasty. The school was always a difficult mix of the two populations.
I didn't, noYou went to Woodlands Nick ? F me.....Thought you were a King Henry sort....
Eh ?.......Nowhere is posher than KH !!I didn't, no
My school was probably a bit rougher
Wish I had gone to king Henry's!
Would have gone there if I had the choice.Eh ?.......Nowhere is posher than KH !!
I remember some students in the colly once. One was jumping up and down on the spot saying he was a cage fighter and he was going to mess people up.Cov was rough in the early 90s, when I went to uni I lived in hillfields for a bit which was rough! its different when you live with family in suburbs in areas your familiar with and grow up in.
Prostitution/drugs/ and car crime was massive from what I witnessed. City centre has cleaned up immeasurably since those days. which you are talking 25 years ago.
The Asian society used to give us a list of PUBS not to go to. There was always trouble if Students went out on Friday or Saturday night mixing with locals, Got dozens of stories I could share! but suffice to say the students learnt very early (don't f with the locals) and stick to midweek student nights!
Eh ?.......Nowhere is posher than KH !!
I remember getting called a “Bunch of fucking monkey bastards” by a teacher at a school in Longford after we lost a football match too. This would have been about 1998.
Did your teacher not do anything about that??Lived in Hillfields. Mixed race. Went to Barr’s Hill.
I can’t comment directly on what has been said as I didn’t go to woodlands. But I saw and experienced all of the above. Albeit 10 years earlier. Sorry lads.
Looking back it sounds way worse than it actually was at the time though. For example another school turning up on Radford Road with knives and machetes was laughed off in double maths right after.
