Midfielder Ivor Lawton and keeper Alex Gott who have already appeared for City U18’s and in the FA Youth Cup along with Ryan Haynes, Ryan Smith, Jordan Smith, Tarik Azille-Moore, Eli Bako, Ashley Carter, Jordan Forrester, Courtney Baker-Richardson, Jack Finch and Ryan Quinn have all been given two-year apprenticeships.
Speaking about this, Academy boss Greg Rioch said: "Out of the 12 apprentices we have 10 who have been with the Academy quite a while and two who we have picked up through our recruitment strategy and connections with other clubs.
"Tarik has joined us from Arsenal and he follows Jemal Wiseman who did the same last year.
"Ashley Carter has been released by Birmingham City, as Jordan Willis was at a similar age, so we hope he can be as successful as Jordan has been.
"The group coming through is a very tight unit. They all get along well and they are one of the best groups we have had here since they were at under-12 level.
"They have been rewarded for that with these apprenticeships and we want to see them continue to work hard, do well and eventually see them in the Coventry first team."
City are yet to announce which players they will be releasing.

Well the youth team is our only hope. Will be interesting to see if the Arsenal lad and Man U lad we got last season will break through into the team next season in L1 probably...

Courtney Richards is meant to be a good prospect as well.

I reckon Richards will get cut. I like him, but he's not as good as his Strike Partner Johnson Clarke-Harris.

Other players to leave will probably be: Joe Henderson, Aaron Phillips, Will Roberts & Alex Donald.

Fletcher's a first year so he should feature a lot more next season. We'll see if he's good enough this time next season.

Ivor Lawton is a very good player. He is 2 years below me at school and played in our years team, and was given a one year professional contract when he was 15. Left footed midfielder already played for the Academy in some big games as well. Definately one to watch.

I'd like to ask the one's who go and watch the youth side, how many they think will be good enough to take the step up to the first team squad.

I remember watching Tony Sheridan when he 1st played for cov reserves in early 90's.

I was about 16, and turned to my mate and said "i'm convinced this guy will get 100 caps for Ireland"

There aren't many that really stick out. Even Josh Ruffles, who has been in the first team squad a few times, isn't immense. I have a friend that played with Jordan Willis at Brum nad said he was poor. Obviously worked very hard to become youth team captain. Ruffles and Willis could make it along with: Ricky Fletcher, Billy Daniels and Johnson Clarke-Harris. JCH is definately the best player in the team. But he's good because he is quick and strong; so even he might struggle in professional football.
