Stock falling with who? You won’t find many Ipswich fans who would want anyone else in charge. Back to back was a step too far. As for this season, a slow start but with almost a third new team in 3 seasons. McKenna will be judged in May not November but consecutive 4-1 away wins and 10 points from 12 suggest we’re getting there.
His stock is falling with the rest of the Football community. He was being linked with Man U last year!

With your squad you should have pissed the league this year. You may well still but if you don’t it will be more Oxford United than Man United he’s linked too.

What was your expectation for the season when it started? I’m pretty sure it would have been better than not in the playoffs after almost a 1/4 of the season.

last 5 games we’ve not been performing at autos level

Winning 4 games from 5 when not at your best is exactly what teams challenging for the autos do.

And we were never going to keep up the momentum of the first 13 games, that was an insane start to the season.

It’s also been done while carrying a lot of fitness issues and to reiterate, since Rudoni’s injury we have won every game except one where half a team was missing.

If we don’t deserve to be where we are at this stage, I’d like to know who does instead.

Don't get me wrong, this is our best chance in the 25 years we've been away without question

However it can and sometimes does go completely tits up. Look at Walsall last year. 19 points clear of the play offs in mid January. Didnt even go up

There are some mitigating circumstances

They lost a key loan player

The one issue is a small squad but how we’ve coped without Rudoni is spectacular it’s like Hackney out for boro Sargent for Norwich etc etc

See how we are placed after playing everyone once. If we are still top 2 we should get auto place provided no long term injuries to key players, and we strengthen in January.
It's our best chance since relegation from PL.
I reckon I'll still be reading online that we haven't played anyone yet even then.

Well we beat Blackburn despite not being at our best, Blackburn then went on a winning run including beating Leicester away.
Watford the game was over after 10 minutes whatever the stats say, they have been unbeaten since, including a creaming of Boro and draw away at Ipswich who everyone are still fretting over.
Wrexham we had half the team missing which unsurprisingly gave us our only defeat of the season.
Slaughtered the Blunts second half.
Won away at second in a game a lot of people thought we would lose and looked in control for all of it despite Robins' sour grapes.

I sure hope we have more shit runs of form like this.

For me, it's Cov, we don't do things the easy way, but this run to date has a slightly different feel, even to our promotion season. Yes people may think we have been lucky to get some of the points we have....but do you not think other teams that have been promoted have had those games and runs where they still pick up points that they may not fully deserve. Our biggest issue right now is squad size and quality beneath the first team, but we are close to Jan, if we can retain our luck and pick up points until then, with 3 quality additions I feel we have the best chance we have ever had to get back where we belong. It won't be easy there are strong teams but we have momentum, Lampard and his team have changed how we play, our setup, and our fitness looks much improved. We don't pass around for the sake of it, like Stoke did yesterday, we mix it up and maximise set pieces and throw ins. We seem to know when to play direct and to play a more tippy tappy style, that combined with a relatively settled squad means we are in a great place moving forward. We can do this. Let's get behind the team and make this happen together. Let's do this and next next season shackle Gyok 💥

I mean I agree with all that- we have shown some great qualities in these games, taking our chances, getting ahead early and seeing out games extremely well. I’m just saying our general play has taken a dip and it needs to improve if we want to keep this up.

Need Rudoni back, or Eccles fit again (I think he’s struggling for fitness). Or maybe explore playing 5 at the back away from home.

Today was absolutely massive. I would have taken a draw considering the situation.

To get the win and the difference between a draw and win was big. 7 points vs 4 points clear of 3rd.

We're going to have another half dozen games like this that can make such a difference and if we lose them it's irrelevant but I think this is the first season defining games.

Thing is, we will be top after 16 games regardless

Dunno how that will affect the above, but I'm sure the stats look better on teams top after 16 games not 15

Sunderland dropped off the top game 16. One of the many markers for failure we’ve now passed.

I'd agree we need Rudoni back if you want to see us at our absolute best. Real top player. Fair to say we've done ok without though.

If anyone else is playing crumble bingo, it’s game 21 for Cardiff.

On this. They’d already lost twice by this stage and won their 17th game then didn’t win again until their 29th. Just to set the baseline for what falling apart at Xmas looks like.

who remembers our first season down - we were top or there about at Christmas only to fail to win a game after Jan till the end of the season - i won’t believe ever until it’s mathematically certain- this is CCFC after all

While you are right to urge caution, your memory is a little out of synch. We actually won 6 league games after January with our last being in March against Norwich when we were still very much in the promotion race. We then made the disastrous decision to bring in Jim Smith to 'assist' Roland Nilsson who brought with with him a couple of ex Derby carthorses in Carbonari and Trollope, resulting in us finishing with 1 point from our last 7 matches.

The 2 seasons feel very different at this point though. In 2001/02 the club didn't have the same positive vibe around it even when we topped the table. The upward momentum the club has had these last few years however has built a positivity and unity amongst the players (and fans) that in my time supporting us has only really been matched for a short period in 1987, from when we beat Man U in the 4th round of the cup until about a month into the following season.
