Are the players "too good"? (4 Viewers)

This is a ludricous argument.

If a team is better than other teams it ends up top of the pile.

If Man Utd or Chelsea were in this league would the players be "too good" and struggle? No.

Would any of our players be hotly persued by Championship teams - no.

It is a much poorer side than last seasons and would be relegated without trace. The players signed are very sub standard footballers and the notion they are too good - forget it.

The OP quotes Arsenal as evidence of this. We lost 6 -1. Teams of our level going to the Emitirates and similar places have done much better.

The difference is they have very good players that also have pace. We lack pace. That is why they play for a top team. Big strong players with pace.

now now lads.....I am not one to get involved with abuse or trolling etc, and a bit of banter and football talk is great. But is this thread for real? Is it April 1st and I havent realised?

I understand where you are coming from with this wacky theory. Using Bigi as an example you could have a point.
But, it's still utter rubbish, they just aren't good enough at the moment. Hopefully we will improve as a team, but there is nobody in the squad who is likely to step up and be counted.

Under no circumstances are any of them 'too good'
Cheers for the giggle though.

Maybe they are just too dainty for this league - time to big up and grow some balls?

The better skillful players can knuckle down and scrap it out when they have to, ours may have some skill, at times, but lack the bottle to scrap it out when they need to. There are a couple of exceptions, Woody has put himself on the line, but there doesn't seem to be a collective toughness.

I hate annoying fox faced bastards coming onto our site but he is right, get fecking real. Our team is shocking at the moment and our league place isn't a lie

Not saying they are too good myself. Just square pegs in round holes. Most of our players are not Div4 standard or lower. A bit of pace would change a lot.

Nothing to do with the players being too good for this league, some players are not performing to the best of there ability at the moment

No I'm sorry I don't buy this.. if you're a good footballer you adapt.. they are not good enough for a whole bunch of reasons.. attitude.. fitness.. desire you name it they don't have it

Not sure that is always the case. Plenty of players don't adapt well to the cut and thrust of English football, thrive in other slower paced leagues.

i suppose the next logical question would have been, if AT brought these players in at christmas last year, would we have got relegated?? maybe not??

Why would a team in a relegation battle in League 1 be too good to be relegated from the Championship?

There is no way these players are too good for this league or even the wrong type of players for this league. We have already seen against Arsenal reserves that a good 6-1 drubbing is on the cards, so they clearly aren't too good for the Prem, even with Bartons clear Premier League skill level (sarcasm) and having watched us in the Championship for the last 10 years, if you think this team would perform better there then you are mistaken but it might have lifted Ipswich Towns spirits. The idea that football at higher levels is somehow much slower and lacks strength is a strange concept as the game is played at a much quicker tempo than the dross we are watching at the moment.

NOT EVEN CLOSE!

Are they too good for league 2? Unsure. They most definitely aren't good enough for league 1

Reserves!? Ox, Walcott England int'ls, Giroud, France int'l, Arshavin, Russia's captain (at the Euros at least), Andre Santos, ex Brazil int'l, Chamakh, Moroccan int'l, Djourou, Swiss int'l, and the rest are probably yah int'ls... Reserves eh!?

In fact, they played a weaker team v Reading than us!
