Got a new aerial fitted on the house we are renovating new aerial points etc . Bought a new smart tv scanned all the free view and analogue channels but the telly won’t pick up the channels . Will I need to get an aerial booster fitted ? Also we don’t have any WiFi at the minute but I wouldn’t think that would be an issue with normal channels

Have you tried it with a spare TV to see if it's a TV issue?

Did the person who fitted it test the points for signal strength?

When I had my aerial done a few years ago they added a booster but even so I still struggle to pick up a lot of channels, or they break up easily so programmes are unwatchable. It's bad during the summer months and especially when it's really hot and we have a band of high pressure sitting over us.

I'm in Allesley Park so quite high up and near a transmitter, but stuff that comes from Sutton Coldfield is hit and miss. I've eventually just given up and if a channel I want doesn't work then I just don't watch the programme.

Giles Brandreth is an expert as Rod Hull found out

If possible take the TV to a friend's house with a working aerial and do the scan there and see what it picks up .And the try it back at yours.

Why do you need an aerial in 2025?
Just get a fire stick, connect to your broadband, and the world is your lobster.

It can replace your wireless and gramophone too

I’ve got to sort out broadband this week. Not sure whether to go for Sky or virgin

Don't use one but there is one on the roof and one in the loft. One day I'll get rid.

When we get blacked out they would have been handy but not anymore.
I guess I can always go and watch Final Score at the window of the TV shop.
Another one to mystify the teenagers. 😁

Can you still get long wave ham radios?

If you have a decent data package, you might ve better off hotspotting your phone until broadband issues resolved.

Needs to be a stong signal pointed at the right mast these days to get a decent digital reception.

Does the aerial feed straight into just the one TV (or recorder)?

That's better than - what was the the last thing to go through Rod Hull's mind as he fell? - His conservatory
and for those who remember Emu’s All Live Pink Windmill Show…

There’s somebody on the floor, there’s somebody on the floor!
