Not surprised he didn't let you go into the West End.
Not with your having that username.
You could have stopped at going to see Kasabian
That was truly a great day, the jubilation of the news about the stadium earlier in the day really was the tonic - Minute I got to the ground I had a feeling we were going to turn up on the pitch that afternoonA minor one, but not being able to make the 7-1 QPR win this season and letting my mate take his wife in my place. It seems she is luckier than I am.
I went to that one! Great day, marginally spoiled by the previous leg...I was just thinking back and the one big regret for me was not watching the Sky Blues beat Bayern Munich, when we qualified for Europe that one time.
It was 1970 and I was still a young kid.
We had beaten Trakia Plovdiv in the first round.
We had played them away in the first leg in Bulgaria and beat them 4-1 and then at home, for the second leg we beat them 2-0. I was there for that game.
The next round we were drawn against the very mighty Bayern Munich!
We played them away in the first leg and we went to Germany and got thumped 6-1 and our keeper, Eric McManus, had a complete mare and was apparently responsible for a number of their goals.
So, it came to the home leg and I just couldn't bring myself to go. I was so distraught after we had lost 6-1 against them in that first leg and I felt I just couldn't go, knowing we were already knocked out.
Anyway, they came here and we actually beat them 2-1. A fabulous achievement.
Have always kicked myself since that I didn't go. We beat one of the best teams in Europe 2-1!
Big regret for me.
You missed a rite of passage.Never standing in the West End, Dad wouldn't let me go in, he felt i was too young.
I used to look over the rail in the family stand above with envy, or watch from "The Crow's Nest".
Sleep tight Dad, I love you, recently passed , Thanks for the memories and giving me the life long gift of CCFC.
Went to all three. No regrets thereI saw us beat Trakia & Bayern ( West Germany ).
My regret. Old man not taking me to the The Cov Wolves match. "Dad , what were you thinking" !!?
Very similar for me, had a big deadline that day too and for once in my life decided to make the sensible decision. Always regret not just handing in the day beforeNot going to Notts County PO semi second leg at Meadow Lane.
Had a ticket in my basket and everything. Was a skint student at the time and just couldn’t make it work
Maybe the very hot iron, damp tea towel and butter knife would have been better used on DionTook my mum hours to remove his name off my shirt with a very hot iron, a damp tea towel and a butter knife.
Love you, mum. x
I just looked and saw that Eric McManus was only 19 at the time of the Bayern game. That's terribly young for a keeper and to play in a major European game too.Went to all three. No regrets there
It was worse for me I was working and couldn’t get the time off so didn’t even get to watch it on tv, just about saw the end and a massive cheer when Tom Bayliss scored. Not going to Notts County PO semi second leg at Meadow Lane.
Had a ticket in my basket and everything. Was a skint student at the time and just couldn’t make it work
We'd have run them very close over the two legs I think. I seem to remember that poor McManus let in at least 3 avoidable goals.Wonder how we would have got on with Bill Glazier in goal, who was amongst the best goalkeepers in the land.
Went to all three. No regrets there
Not having my Dad around to see us, although I know he has been putting in a word with the BIG BOSS up there. My dad passed away 2020, Covid and he had been a season ticket holder for 40 odd years plus. I moved away from the UK for nearly 30 years but my dad religiously sent me the program, Pink for many of those years without a thought. He would be so chuffed with how it has ended. Being elderlyish I became a father for the first time 4 years ago and he has my Dad's name and character and he supports CCFC, of course.
Thought we only took 25,000 to the cup final. That is pretty mental!
So say you went to about 15x home games on which the average attendance was about 16k, yet you still missed out when we took 50k to Wembley?

It’s no typo, he sells pesticides and weed killers on the King’s Road. And concerned why his son couldn't spell aggro.
oops! Great night that was - we celebrated the draw like we'd just won the FA CupI walked out of Pompey away at 3-1 down in 2019 as soon as the referee pulled the red card out of his pocket to show to Dabo...
Definitely not 25K in the stadium although maybe the official allocation was that. It was around 50/50 in the stadium and the crowd was 98K.Thought we only took 25,000 to the cup final.
I’m sure we took 50,000 to the charity shield though.
Tuesday night, long drive back and the thought of being in my bed before midnight suckered me in - Was not aware of the score until I was on the M3 and switched from my Spotify to TalkSportoops! Great night that was - we celebrated the draw like we'd just won the FA Cup
Yes but it’s the FA cup final, half the ticket's are distributed to FA members & corporate etc.Definitely not 25K. It was around 50/50 in the stadium and the crowd was 98K.
Mr Farage had a few spares?Yes but it’s the FA cup final, half the ticket's are distributed to FA members & corporate etc.
I actually got my cup final tickets through Ipswich Town.
I mean... same. But seems a bit harsh to call it a regretMoving to London, getting married and having kids. All three have in their own way tempered my attendance over the years.
