Absolutely. All news media have agendas and lie in order to promote those. All politicians do the same...distort the truth at best or lie at worst in order to ensure their followers get their message across. It's important for politicians and the media to try and discredit their opponents. And as ever one persons fake news is another's truth.

While I get your point about agendas you're completely incorrect about fake news, there is still an objective reality and some media now is distorting that to be utterly false.

For instance headlines like
"David Cameron worst PM ever" or "Brexit is best for Britain" may seem completely untrue depending on your stand point but are not necessarily bending truth but analysing it in a different way.

"Crime at highest ever rate - and getting worse" and "Terrorist disguised as children are sneaking into the country" are objectively false and wilfully distorting people's perception of reality.

Didn't they represent the heaviest voting for leave?

It was a bit of a sweeping generalisation, fair enough. My personal gripe is with people my own age (20 to 30) that come from privileged backgrounds (mainly Kenilworth where I grew up I must add) that have absolutely no idea how the world works and yet try to lecture others on what is right and wrong. They also seem to be really naive.

For the record I don't think people that voted to leave are braindead, I think people have different opinions on things and that should be respected. I'd be more inclined to listen to people between the ages of 50 and 60 than the people I was talking about in the paragraph above anyway!

I get you and wasn't necessarily being critical, yet I do find the Idea that people who voted the opposite way should unite /fall into line absurd.
It's not what they believe in, just like after an election that goes the other way, we don't suddenly adopt a new Ideology.

No I completely agree with you. I just think the hysteria is like nothing ever before.

If the result is Brexit, then that's the way it is unfortunately. The same way that if Corbyn won the next general election, I would be really unhappy and wouldn't support him, but equally at the same time I wouldn't be smashing up a Starbucks.

Yet more generalisations. I understand where you are coming from but there are plenty of people aged 50-60 from all demographics who are just as bad.

Fore the record, in recent months I have lost count how many times I have been described as being part of a middle class liberal during various online discussions, yet I was born to working class Irish parents who ended up going to university later in life over here to become teachers. There is ignorance across all parts of society, sadly.

I'd take a Corbyn government over Brexit any day. Corbyn has at least got a better moral compass than a lot of Brexit people- Farage being the best example of why Corbyn beats Brexit.

Yes. I have been described as a leftie and libtard although I have my own business and would have been classed as right wing at one time.

People get pigeon holed very quickly.

By todays standards I seem to be left wing though. It shows how far right the west has become.

The fact that there was no plan in the event of a Leave victory says it all about Cameron. He has divided the country in the long-term and was effectively putting the the needs of the Tory party ahead of the country.

I have gone from being slightly left of centre, to being a sandal wearing, muesli eating member of the liberal, metropolitan elite. 30 years ago I would probably have been a potential terrorist.

Any muesli tips? I eat "sport" muesli. It has fruits in it. I went off sandals a couple of years ago...

I can only talk from personal experience SB! Believe it or not, I am really in the middle when it comes to politics, but I probably give the impression I lean more to the right just because I'm surrounded by more bigoted left wingers than anything else and i'm constantly fighting with them to be fair.

Really, I respect everyone's opinion at the end of the day. Debate is healthy.

I know no one will believe me, and that's fine, but here goes anyway; a friend who was in Stockholm a few days ago said a man set himself on fire and ran into a crowd of people about 30 minutes after he was in the same location.

I only saw his facebook status yesterday morning and googled the shit out of it and bizzarely there was absolutely nothing to be found, even on the Swedish news websites. I almost posted a thread on here yesterday and I wish I had now, but I didn't want the usual arguments that erupt out of it so just left it.

Whilst this is probably a coincidence and Trump is chatting shit as per, it's becoming clear by ths day that the media in Sweden are blacking out certain things. That's fucking worrying.

I have had a lad at work pushing a few similar things my way over the last couple of weeks.
Did your friend witness it or hear of it and if so where from.
You'd think there would be mobile footage leaked onto youtube or wherever from actual witnesses, like the many French events.

I didn't say this story is what he was referencing.

I was just highlighting the bizzare coincidence that something happened in Sweden which was essentially erased, and then Trump starts talking about terrorist attacks that didn't happen a day or so later.

My main point was highlighting that the media are being 'selective' on what they report.

He passed back through the scene a couple of hours later and emergency services were out in numbers with the area closed off. He asked a policeman what had happened. He hasn't got an agenda to push and I do believe he is honest about it. It was a day or two before Trump opened his mouth anyway.

I'm not saying it wasn't a goat carrying a flaming olympic torch through, it's just the fact the media didn't report it which raises an eybrow a little bit.

Took a few seconds on google to find reports in the Swedish media. 55 year old Swede who claimed he was 100% sane and was protesting the secret police killing people.

It makes it look even more suspicious then, because not only was this supposed to have happened on Friday according to these new news articles, the incident that happened to my friend was on Thursday.

Also, google it now and you get answers. Only in the last 18 hours they've put this up. What took them so long?

Something doesn't add up.

Trump is a bullshitter. Especially about Europe. He portrays Germany as a mess. It isn't. I am in Munich now where the international security conference was. Nothing happened to me. I am not scared. McCain gave a great speech here abou Western values. Slagged Trump off brilliantly without mentioning him by Name. Western values have brought us 70 years of freedom and prosperity and we must defend them ( he meant against People like Trump ).

A woman from the AfD posted a picture of Hitler today with the words "Missing since 1945" please contact us. Your people need you.

This party ( AfD ) gets between 10 and 14% in the polls.

No. At least Germany isn't. It is booming. Now... there is the Afd... telling lies and now even telling the truth about their views...posting pictures of Hitler and saying "come back, your people need you".

Trump will fall... and the fake news ära with him. Leaves the question of what happens to the clowns who latched on to his success and to whom he latched on to?

The turd Farage must be watching with horror as his "good friend" destroys himself in the USA. Will be as difficult, or rather more difficult, to disown Trump as it was the big red NHS bus.

Has Trump visited Europe - apart from openings of golf Clubs? How can he know anything? Just crap. Maybe he is right once in a while.... Taly so much crap that occasionally he might be right. He certainly doesn't have a clue about Europe.

Seems that you're belief of a cover up is nothing other than paranoia and may have nothing to do with Islamic terrorism.

He has also said it was based on a report on Fox News, so not sure how it can be based on a cover up?

Yes, what was the point? It had nothing to do with refugees or terrorists and maybe wasn't of particular interest. So is it a conspiracy and if so, what is the conspiracy iyo? Why would anyone suppress the story?

No idea Mart. It's just bizarre that a pretty much identical occurrence happened 24 hours later, but took another 36 hours to reach the news.

I imagine if someone had set themselves on fire outside Broadgate even the Telegraph would be there within minutes whacking out '5 things we know about the flaming bandit' on a beat up old typewriter.
