Seems relevant. Stop scaring yourself on the internet kids. I blame Crimewatch no longer telling us not to have nightmares.

Local Facebook groups coupled with everyone having cctv or a ring doorbell. I was happily ignorant that anyone was trying my car door at night or whatever else they're up to. Now you're getting daily updates.

I also get a weekly email off the police with details of crimes committed in the local area, if I didn't get that I wouldn't know most of them had happened.

Similarly twitter and other social media love to highlight things happening across the country you never would have heard about, coupled with a decent number of people who like to push a narrative that we're under attack.

Horrible. Always worried about kids going out, but you think when you've got them to 18 you've done your job and they'll be ok. Unimaginable, must be heartbreaking for the family. In fact I see a 19 year old arrested too, so despite him being a prick, his family will no doubt also be devastated. Just feels so needless too, why can't kids just have a scrap any longer, as soon as you carry you're asking for trouble

I don't know how you solve this problem, its so sad and worrying. We've reached a point where far too many kids are wandering around with knives even if only on the basis of "everyone else has one, I need one for protection".

We don't have anywhere near the resources to stop and search a significant number of people even if you could do it without escalating tensions in the local community. We don't have the capacity to lock people up if they are found with knives and the ones we do lock up seem to come out worse than when they went in.
