Would make the protest so much more meaningful though.

So...would anyone who was there mind giving a rundown / bit of insight into what was said? Genuinely intrigued. I’ll accept my status as a 2nd class citizen for not attending in person

I went. nice enough evening & nice to be there with the lad and get the new kit, meet mark robins etc,... but not sure id bother again.

The q & a , while good to see him engaging with fans, didn't really tell you anything. As you'd expect the questions were things like ' are we gonna get promoted this season' 'are the players good enough for the championship' 'are we coming back to thew Ricoh & is the pitch good enough'. etc ... and his answers were, as youd expect, very well skirted around... "we will get promoted when the team is ready'. 'there is some very good players here & they just need time' ' we all hope we come back to the Ricoh' blah blah. nothing at all that I sat there and thought , wow that was revealing ! lol

the best part I guess, was that we got to buy the kit last night, looking at the queues online & instore this morning!

Indeed, Thought people might see the Joke in relation to “gangsters” linked with the two tone theme ref the kit-obviously not. :emoji_thinking:

Work with 3 black east Londoners. Nice people but they have their own lingo, it’s a nightmare. Had to learn about ‘scores’, ‘bills’, ‘bags’ (Hickman look away), ‘monkey’, ‘ton’, ‘bullseye’. And that’s just for amounts of money. I’m out of my depth so I just stay quiet and nod.

All I’ve taught them is ‘Cov’ and ‘batch’ and ‘got a cob on’ which isn’t even a Coventrian thing.

Thought it was a really enjoyable evening, thought the Q&A was insightful without any breaking news moments to come out of it. I thought hearing about the players having someone from Coventry University to talk to them Individually and collectively about mental health was interesting.

Jodi Jones is on the grass and isnt far away (didn't give time scale).

Sounded totally invested in the project here and Robins is confident that and he said "when we return to the ricoh under different circumstances with a longevity there, we will get and sustain much bigger crowds."

Kit is quality, whoever's the city fan was who put money behind the bar, fair play! Great gesture!

Enjoyed it, but just wish you could ask question during Q&A as before hand it is quite easy to forget what you want to ask.

One young lad asked who would win if Robins and Vibash had a fight. Robins said that he would as he would tell Vibash that he was going to win. (ie he is the boss!)
Someone asked about Biamou and his chances of playing this season. Robins confirmed that he has been injured but will be involved tomorrow if fit. He felt that he does have a future here and that he does see him having a role in the team in the way we are trying to play.
He is surprised and pleased that the players have taken so well to the style of play, they are doing better with this than he thought they would. One of the things he feels that they need to do is to work harder and smarter when out of possession. He was surprised at how quickly the players confidence evaporated last Saturday. He did say that the club do pay a lot of attention to building the mental side of the players game. They do have a plan (I took this to be a mental rather than tactical plan) that the players need to follow if things are going pear shaped, but that some players didn’t stick to that last week. They do have someone who comes in to deliver motivational training every couple of months and that someone from Warwick Uni is frequently at Ryton to help with the players mental health. The tight budget is a limit on what they can do.
He thinks we will get promoted out of this league (presumably in the near future) but that this will happen when the team shows it is ready. He wouldn’t confirm that promotion is on the cards for this season.
Someone asked about his working day. He said that he leaves home at 5.30 and gets into Ryton at about 6.30- 7.45 depending on how the M1 and M69 are running. Staff start arriving at about 7.30. He will have a series of meetings before training. For example he will meet with the physio to see who is fit and who isn’t. The players have breakfast before starting to warm up at about 10.30. Training for them is over by 12-12.30. There may be meetings with individual players or a group (back 4 for example) He will be heading home in the early evening, usually through horrendous traffic. He may go and watch a game in the evening but this is rare now due to the software which allows them to watch any game from home.
He mentioned the upgrade of software that allows them to use a screen rather than a subuteo table.
He did say that in terms of staff that they are stretched, that they don’t have the personnel that other clubs in League one have or the money that they have to spend. He recognises the circumstances the club are in and is not complaining about funding.
He was complimentary about Godden saying that he wants to learn, is always coming to see him (Robins)and is always keen to go over videos of his performance to see how he can improve.
Someone asked what he does before a game when the players are warming up. He said that by that stage his work in advance of the game is done. He may stand in the tunnel and watch his own players warm up or he may watch the opposition. He might, read or watch some clips or he might just take himself off to a quiet space to gather his thoughts
As mentioned, nothing earth shattering was said. Robins, as ever is very comfortable talking in front of an audience and is always thoughtful in his answers and is well spoken. The impression that I get is that he has a plan, he does see the way forward, knows where he wants to to take the club and just needs the time to do it.
No doubt a bad result tomorrow will have the usual bunch sharpening their axes. Fortunately it does seem that Boddy and the Sisu crew do have faith in him and are prepared to give him the time he needs to succeed.

I was disappointed however as the big surprise was all of the Two Tone stuff with people from that era present. I had hoped it was going to be at least a hint of a return to Coventry. This seems to be as far away as ever.

Tbh I thought the big surprise was that Robins had signed a new deal
But the club announced it on the morning of the event
Perhaps it was originally planned to happen on the night but had to be released earlier

Logged on to give a fuller detail about what was said but ISB has pretty much summed it up.
A few other things though, Godden is trying to learn a different role in dragging their back line. To me this would explain his fewer goals recently. MR did say he might just let him play his instinctive game, however Godden is willing to learn.

The team are still a work in progress, they need to work harder out of possession. He will be happy when they are sprinting to close down.

Also they need to be a lot more vigilant in recruiting players with previous ACLs.
