Abortion is a tragedy and the numbers are a disaster but this is such a dark ages judgement that will just leave women in danger. Bizarre

Though to be fair that's often just a cover for some sort of oil grab or geopolitical manoeuvre, they really couldn't give a fuck about civilisation or democracy.

I suppose we will now watch God bless those states that ban abortion with milk and honey while those that keep abortion will burn like Soddom

Even the bible which these idiots claim to worship contains instructions to carry out abortions under certain circumstances

US can't claim any moral supremacy over authoritarian states which also have politically motivated supreme courts. False pride in a system of checks and balances that has been eroded through politicisation of its judiciary.
Makes their scorn/condemnation of other religious states seem facile.
No difference in basing your legal system on literal interpretations of a religious tract or of a document written over 200 years ago.
Gay marriage and contraception next on this Court's radar.

A country that also separated children of immigrants from their parents intentionally at the border. In time the horror of that will come fully to light.

I'm not sure about states like new York but large tranches of it are definitely.
Though they seem to have a blind spot for though shall not kill if the killing involves a gun!

Definitely part of that - but Biden controls all Congress and the Senate… he has the power to deal with this but lacks any desire to do so.
Same with the guns.

I am not an expert on the US constitution but I am not sure Biden has any power to do anything about this. On guns totally agree.

Senate already blocked Biden's attempt to protect abortion rights under federal law.
Any big moves on guns will turned over by this Supreme Court. They are taking a literal interpretation of the constitution.

The fact the Democrats control the Senate makes that even more abhorrent.

There won't stop there that's for sure. Judge Thomas in his concurring opinion mentioned overturning Griswold (which is the right to contraception), Obergefell (the right to same-sex marriage) and Lawrence (which covers gay sex).

Both of these I expect.

Edit - As chiefdave just said. I read on Instagram of all places that they'd been mentioned by the judge that ruled on the verdict today.

It worries me as we're so tied to them politically. We've burned our bridges in Europe now we need to stand by while America strips rights all over the shop.

China are rising and will be the dominant power before too long. It would be useful for us to have more friends than these fucking nut jobs.

The Democrats had the chance to obstruct the last Trump appointment until after the election in the same way that McConnell blocked the appointment of Merrick Garland. Had the Democrats properly fought on those fronts they’d have another two justices.

This is the consequence of being either crap at politics or not caring enough in the first place. Though DOD with his cutting edge insight predicted that Biden would just expand the court. Still waiting on that

Trump Privately Called a Roe v. Wade Reversal ‘Bad’ for His Party (Published 2022)

Publicly, former President Donald J. Trump had been remarkably tight-lipped. But privately, he worried the decision could lead to a backlash in the midterms.
www.nytimes.com

it's more what he is saying in private
in public he will throw red meat to his base but in private he thinks it's awful for his party

Do you understand the implications of how judges are appointed in the US?

Yes. Trump appointed judges as one of his last act as President who are very much inclined to follow this path.
