Meant to have a bet on India winning this test by an innings or more when I saw how the pitch was yesterday but forgot. That is mildly frustrating.

You’d have got odds of 1/500

The pitch became a sand pit will be the reverse of the first match - lose the toss and you lose the match on these pitches

Had India won the first test then the pitch for this game would’ve been the same standard as the first one.
But because They’ve had a bloody nose so reverted to what they know. Coupled with the dodgy umpiring as well, it’s like we’ve gone back to the 1980s.
This pitch is not fit for test match cricket. It’s played like a day 5 pitch from the off.

It was a gamble regarding having to win the toss and the selection process for us was a bit bewildering

I agree. Places like this it's all about winning the toss.

So I'd get rid of the toss and say the away team always get to choose whether to bat or bowl first.

It’s a good idea but won’t get voted in as India have a lot of the Power and control in world cricket. It’d be like turkeys voting for Christmas

Poor performance from England and a great win for India but questions about the pitch. Not for a minute saying England didn't deserve to lose or it was down to the pitch but it can't be ignored. Agnew sums it up pretty well.

India v England: 'You may as well play on a beach - Chennai pitch not good enough for Test cricket'

The Chennai surface is not good for the sport, says Jonathan Agnew, as 15 wickets fall on day two of the second Test between India and England.

The number of shit reviews and third umpire calls that went in India’s favour cannot be ignored either. They don’t need to pull such shenanigans when they have a top side already.

Cricket is a bonkers game. I do like it, but surely it is the only sport in the world where you can win the equivalent of 7-0 one week and then you can lose 7-0 the following week, both against the same side.

Very happy with this. Cautiously optimistic for this season, liked the appointment of Robinson as coach. Sam Hain tied down as well, need a few of the talented youngsters to fulfil their potential now.

Good to see that England have done their usual approach of not reading the room when it comes to their bowling set up.

Not that it was to blame for England’s performance in the last match or 1st innings here but has to be questions about the quality of the pitch again.

When Root has 4 wickets in 5 overs for less than 10 runs on the morning of the 2nd day surely ‘pitch offers excessive assistance to spin bowlers, especially early in the match” applies which is a criteria for a poor pitch rating.

The only positive from wickets like this is they produce results but just far to quickly
