Really enjoyed watching him play and an absolute goal machine.

I suppose the good thing is he managed to have a decent career after the heart problem was first highlighted many years ago.

Has to be in the top 5 Premiership players of all time for me.

Was a flat track bully until Pep came along.
Didn't have a great record against bigger teams.
Pep massively improved him.

Great player and enjoyed the way he played. Remember seeing him play for Athletico Madrid, when I was there for a long weekend. I hadn't heard of him at that time but he stood out in that match.

Best striker of the PL era so far for me.

Henry better
Yeh was gonna say, Henry followed by Aguero for me too. Always have a soft spot for Shearer though, proper striker.

Shearer’s goal tally considering he was only in a title winning side once still makes him the best of the PL era for me along with my nostalgia for the traditional Number 9. Aguero and Henry definitely round off the top 3 though.

Oddly football existed before that era
'The PL era' has become an accepted measure of time within the media.

When I was growing up, the term used a lot was 'post war'.

Then came Murdoch and a new epoch was formed.

I suppose us oldies should just suck it up until the next 'era' emerges ('best midfielder of the Amazon era').

Easily in the top 5 Prem strikers in no particular order:

Henry
Shearer
Rooney
Aguero
Bergkamp

I’m well aware - however there are better strikers that played in the top flight over the years prior to the creation of the PL hence the differentiation.
