My friend is actually working on the clinical trials of treating alcohol addiction with MDMA:

Could MDMA treat addiction? North Somerset clients take part in clinical trial

Very interesting! I see that Nutt is involved, wasn't he the one sacked as the government didn't like what he said about mdma vs alcohol?

I still remember popping my first pill in a nightclub at the tender age of 14 and how great it was. It wasn't my sort of thing long-term but alcohol is definitely more harmful compared to it.

A friend of mine recently starting taking acid around once a Q and he said that it has turned his life around and has set himself so many goals that he has actually reached and is doing very well for himself since he got into it on a regular basis.

Seen some pretty bad instances of MDMA abuse to be fair, and had my own fair share of "wanky Wednesdays" to worry about recommending it for any mental health issue.

To be fair, I'd assume any trial is controlled doses and not five pills a night every weekend for a year like some I've know.

Agree here Macca in you overall view apart from the flaggelation .
If it is dealt with exhuastively here and now, rather than piecemeal in a trickle, we don't have to.
There appear to have been appalling snubs as recent as last Sunday to the severity /seriousness of acknowledging /addressing the problem .
It involves a resignation from the instigator and a full published Compensation package.
There has been the exposure of a very cold heart in the centre of Govt as evidenced after Grenfell.
For me it isn't about what's expedient for individuals but all about honour.
Well
I have to say my initial views appear to be playing out given the need today re, the giving of evidence .only on condition of non prosecution of those required to supply it
Endorsed by the lead prosecution barrister no less.

Edit this pertains to the last comment re Grenfell.
