Adam le fondre has adapted to championship football easily, macdonald hasn't, they've both came from the same league, from the same sort of team, proves who the better player is

Le fondre 250k
Macdonald 400k

Nice one thorn for choosing the right one!

The funds to buy MacDonald only became available when Ben Turner was sold. (By this time Le Fondre had already signed for Reading)

Le Fondre was signed by Reading on 27th August 2011

On 30th August, Ben Turner passed a medical and agreed a three-year deal with Cardiff City (Reported to be 750k)

Cody Mac signed by Coventry on 31st August 2011 (With funds available from the Turner sale Andy Thorn finally had a small transfer pot to sign a much needed striker.)

Andy Thorns Sky Blue Army!!

Jesus, we didn't get him. Get over it. And let's see how McDonald works out over a season please.

Perfectly put, and an argument I made at the time. Such a blatantly stupid decision not to release fuds when they were needed sums up why SISU don't "get" football business.

C'mon OP, you'll have to do better than that if you want to win more people onto the anti-Thorn bandwagon ;)

Also how many chances has ALF had compared to cody. McDonald may well have scored just as many playing for reading and who cares about reading cozy

It's still early days. Here are just a few reasons why Le Fondre has been more successful than Cody so far:

- He's benefitted from a full pre-season and a few league games at Rotherham, enabling him to be fit, firing and confident. Cody didn't play at all for Norwich in pre-season and was largely frozen out of the club.

- Le Fondre has played more often. Clearly he's going to score more playing 90 minutes up front every game than coming off/on an hour in a la Cody.

- Reading create more chances than we do. Scoring 15 for Reading is probably akin to scoring 10 for us.

And besides all that, he's been close. Had his headers against Ipswich and Leeds gone in rather than cleared off the line or hit the bar, he'd have 2 goals and we'd be talking about how good a signing it is.

Our first win came on Cody's debut. We had 2 points from 5 games before he signed, so his arrival brought with it an upturn in form. (I don't actually agree with this logic but considering some were blaming our downturn last season on Marlon King I thought I'd use this logic the other way!)

If you had sky blues player you would heard AT saying before the Leeds game that he thinks Cody is almost ready to start a game. I know it's been said a hundred times but Cody basically hadn't played a game since last season before he came to us, Le Fondre did.

Who cares! Lefondre has made it publicly clear that in a straight choice he'd choose reading anyway! Get a life!

ALF has also consistently scored goals in the football league in the previous 4 seasons, Cody so far has been a 1 season (football league) wonder.

I have no doubt that if the funds had been available Le fondre would have been a Coventry player, despite what he said publicly we'd been having dialogue with Rotherham for weeks before reading come in.

I can't believe how people moan on about AT and the players on these thread. Give Cody a run in the side and he'll start scoring goals. Who cares about Le Fondre. Get behind your team

....After all its only the striker that makes goals and their performance has nothing to do with the rest of the team. Brilliant.:claping hands:

"Cody has so far been a one season wonder"

wonder what that makes Andy Caroll, Jordon Henderson, Chicarito etc etc

Slighty different level of football though isn't it Premiership vs League Two - i was only trying to make an additional point to the ones Sutty had posted for reason's Le Fondre had took to Championship football so well. Hence the reason that i never mentioned not having a pre-season, etc.

You could argue that ROD and Eastwood also have a decent goalscoring records in a league higher than cody. Re: Chicarito - bad example, the guys scored 22 international goals in 32 games, and Jordan Henderson has played two full seasons 2009/10, 2010/11 in the premier league before moving to liverpool. Carroll i agree with you.

I want Cody to do well, if he does well the Sky Blues will do well, but i don't have unreal expectations that he's going to set the league alight and replace the goals that we've lost from losing King.

As I have on numerous occasions ;)

Disagree with you on Carroll, though. He was incredible in the last U-21 game at The Ricoh, best on the pitch by miles. I think his passing ability, awareness and first touch are massively under-rated by many. He's not just a big target man-although he does remind me of Mark Hateley a lot. Remember that Hateley played in Italy for a good few years-I see Carroll as a guy who could do that too. Still young, he's just lloking bad by comparison to Suarez.

Carroll is okay but his ability has been blown way out of proportion by the price tag. It was as if the media went a bit nutty because he was the number 9 shirt that Shearer wore. I don't think he will anything more than a plan b for England though, due to the way international football is played.
