Slightly different IMO .... she was age 20 and clearly a can short of a six pack, the law is different for men and women (in relation to having sex), if a girl is over 13 but under 16 and the man is under 24 then he has a defence in certain circumstances.
Even if it was the same offence, Johnson would be outside of this age anyway in other words he's old enough to know better.
He deserves every hour he spends in prison and the victim should fleece him of every £ he's got, particularly the £3 million he supposedly earnt after Sunderland knew what he'd done (debatable who actually knew at Sunderland !)

perhaps not fleece him probably bad terminology on my part ..... but certainly enough to have a significant impact on his wealth, the reality is he will serve a relatively short sentence in a low risk prison (eventually), play football for the prison team, probably be a celebrity figure to some other inmates and then come out as arrogant as he went in.
Does she need to be mentally scared for he rest of her life to have been judged to have suffered ? aside of whatever happened with him it seems she is still suffering the backlash socially and was dragged through a court appearance at a relatively young age.

This is all about Intent, continual grooming her knowing full well her age, no remorse and then not pleading guilty. Thats why its six years. judge deems it all premeditated and calculating.

If they had stronger sentences for grooming then that might stop the other things from happening. It's the grooming that leads to offences.
I believe with Rolf Harris and Stuart Hall they had to be sentenced within the Law as to stood at the time the offences were committed, so probably applying 1970's and 1980's legislation rather than 2015
The maximum he can have taken off is 10% apparantly. Assuming his appeal fails.

A better punishment would have been a massive fine which could have been seized from his football wages. Since he will now languish in jail, there will be no income to distribute.

It does in all fairness seem harsh. No responsibility seems to have been taken by the parents of this young teen or the girl herself. that's not excusing Johnson by the way - he has been an idiot. But the law is the law and must be followed even though we can find it inconsistent where it's values are attributed.

Completely ruined the bloke's life, used violence and this victim has had 3 heart attacks as a result and will never work again, but the perpetrator gets 3 years, 3 months.
Adam Johnson gets 6 years.
