Okay, so I had a mini stroke two years ago (am fine now) and do suffer from high blood pressure.

I can actually take defeats easier these days compared to when I was much younger, when they would pretty much ruin my weekend. But actually during games now, I can find it a lot more stressful at times.

Anyway, getting to the point, what I did tonight and have also done once before this season, is to cheat a little.

So, I have NOW, which is notoriously known for being around 2 mins or so behind the live action. On NOW it could be the 35th minute, but if I go on the BBC Sport website, it's 37 mins gone

As a side note, I only do this when there is danger from the opposition and not when we have the ball.

I think one incident, as an example. We were leading 1-0 and they had a free kick in a very dangerous area.

I was getting stressed, so quickly went on the BBC site and saw it was 2 mins ahead and that we were still winning 1 nil, so I knew the free kick didn't come to anything.

I know it's slightly nuts, but it does save my heart.

Is this acceptable cheating?

I also remember during the Women's Euro's, when it came to pens, I just paused the live TV and waited til I knew the outcome, before watching it all back. Again, my poor heart couldn't take it.

Anyway, it really worked for me tonight and I am very much intending on doing it again in upcoming matches.

Opposition get a dangerous situation on the attack, I check the BBC website, to see if it actually came to anything

I'm exactly the same. Heart problems so I look at bbc sports football fixtures to see if we've conceded.
I still haven't found a solution for when I'm at an actual match though. .

I don't do it to this extent but i will do what @fatso does and check LiveScore app if we're facing a dangerous situation late in the game to see if we survived. I would say watching us generally has always made me anxious, its something that i simultaneously enjoy but don't actually enjoy at all.

Maybe for actual matches you could stay in the concourse and judge what's going on from the crowd noise

I find it more annoying if I'm watching it on a delayed stream and see elsewhere that we've scored before I see the goal on my screen!

I was on holiday for the 2nd playoff leg at Boro. Watching it on a dodgy stream on my phone and my mate text me celebrating Hamer's goal. Saw the notification flash up on my phone and then 30 seconds later saw the goal. Kind of ruined the moment a little bit

As someone who had a mild heart attack in 2019 I think you should man up @Otis & just watch the game as live without looking at other sources Of course if you think that our current run is because you do this then carry on ffs!!
