I guess we shouldn't be surprised should we!
Just saw the ex professional Paul Stewart interview on Sky and the effect on his composure some 40 or more years later was so revealing,
When will the establishment be sidelined from these inquiries.
I was quite pleased when the Judge /Lawyer from New Zealand was appointed but look how that turned out.
Is there an arm of the UN or Unesco or other that are capable of overseeing this.

Any time you get men and boys together, it's going to happen.

The guy at Crewe seems to be a particularly nasty specimen, but I am now wondering if his sacking by them in 1992, with no reason given at the time, is another BBC Jimmy Saville situation with Crewe sweeping it under the carpet instead of exposing him. If so there should be some very embarrassed officials of that club right now.

You are probably right. Get him out and then turn a blind eye. Others at the club must have known but perhaps weren't supported in coming forward. Probably told to shut up or lose their jobs.

Robbie Savage has said that when he was 12 or 13 he also stayed at Dario Gradi (who was the first team manager)'s house. That sort of thing is strange.

Imagine Venus or Mowbray asking a young Under 13 player to stay at their house, it just wouldn't happen.

No. Couldn't disagree more. It's not inevitable. It only happens when you get paedophiles and boys together. Big difference.

The whole world of football is in a bubble. Despite all the money they earn, I certainly wouldn't have wanted to grow up and live in that world.

Apparently now Crewe knew about it, as did the FA....

What a surprise! Not much difference to the Savile debacle.

But surely you know that paedophiles are attracted to jobs that involve boys?

They'd get to them regardless. The belief that certain jobs attract them is why there is a shortage of male primary school teachers amongst othe jobs.

Crewe to open an investigation.

Chances are too little too late for the club to investigate; needs to be the police and no one else!

Agreed. They (Crewe) could and should have investigated years ago

Well partly
But more about busy lives these days
From something I witnessed many years ago, without being paranoid or encouraging it.
I as a parent would be very hands on in evaluating any volunteers who were working with my children.

I'm really wary about things like that, probably wrong to be like it but it's the world we live in. Can never be too careful

Wife and I are wary too. We didn't let one girl carry on with the tennis coach...we both felt he was a little questionable. Therefore took her to another club.
Son at football..were not concerned by coach but were by other parents...I ended up helping with the coaching...so now I feel I'm in the spotlight.

I know what you mean, I guess people do wonder "why's that bloke volunteering to do this, he doesnt have his own kids" for example. He might well be doing it out of the goodness of his own heart, but people will still wonder.

When people are letting their kids stay at football coaches houses, I.don't think that would happen nowadays.

Absolutely...the minority of bad eggs spoil it for guys who want to help but feel they can't. And spoils it for kids who miss out on some quality coaches and adult role models.

Any hint of CCFC being linked? "West Midlands Police" could be a number of clubs.

Hope this comes across the right way, but CCFC doesn't need this publicity if so, but more importantly the offenders need bringing to justice.

If the club is linked I certainly hope there's no suggestion they have done anything to cover it up as it starting to be suggested elsewhere.

More coming out, clubs were warned about this guy in the late 80's.

If that letter was sent out because the league knew of his absuse then its not a very good letter to say the least. If I was the recipient at the time nothing in there would make me think that the individual himself was a danger.

Matt LeTissier making headlines with comments about a 'naked massage' he was given. I thought you had to be naked to get a massage.

You still have to be naked under the towel and the towel has to be constantly moved to reveal the parts being massaged. I just don't see the point.
