A ccfc uprising, a new type of protest (1 Viewer)

doing something

I'm not a cov fan, but I come in peace. However I might be construed as being a dick, I hope you take my comments the right way.

I've been reading the half hearted 'protest' threads and ideas, like masks, marches, etc. And I really do despair.

The only way to beat a shit owner is to boycott going into the ground. An empty Ricoh is the biggest ever FU to an owner and they start to panic. A protest through town is just exactly that... its in town.

Oh no... the poor players need us..
No they dont. Someone comes in with a better offer they will be off. No football player cares about you lot or the club, if they say it they are lying because a fatter contract elsewhere will ALWAYS turn their head. Its amazing when I think of people who have gone on strike yet they turn into jelly when it comes to defending a 20 year old who earns more than their annual salary during the length of the picket.

What else do you need to do? Get organised. You need a voice, you need a continued and aggressive voice stating your intentions. Form a trust, form a pressure group. Get an identity.

I cant quite work out what you want, its not clear..

I am supportive, but I think if you guys want to do something, dont do it in splinter groups stand together like your song says.

cv32 - an unusually perceptive post from an objective standpoint. The perennial problem is that fans are confused based on their loyalties. To support by not supporting is a concept that most of them won't be able to grasp.
But you are right, an empty stadium might turn heads and get results. Won't hold my breath tho.

It's a nice idea to completely boycott the games. Unfortunately there will be people who don't use the internet, don't listen to the radio or read the paper and of course those that just want to go and watch the games. The ideas we come up with won't be restricted to just people using this site, outlets will be used to try and get word of mouth to as many Coventry fans as is possible. Like you said, our song says it all and we want that ethos to continue.

how about we all buy secondhand muppetts (miss piggy, kermit excetera) and write SISU on them in big letters and then leave them everywhere around the country,if we can leave them in enough high profile places this will surely attract attention to the sisu muppets that own us

Palace fans know what it's like. Over the past 14 years we've had crap thrown at us by Ron Noades, Mark Goldberg, Simon Jordan and Brendan Guilfoyle (administrator who did a top job with us, Pompey and Plymouth). Now we've got our current owners we can finally believe we've got proper businessmen running the club who also have the club's interest at heart.

Here's the post by CovKev if anyone's interested: http://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=106&tid=116906

Eagles! =)

Hah, CovKev = me!!! Sorry, I didn't want to go onto other teams boards with this username because I thought it would just be easier to have my team name in my username!

someone suggested a couple of weeks ago on cwr to do a mass walkout 20 mins into second half. good idea? If you do that and still wanna watch the match the casino shows the 2nd half of games

Do cov fans have a supporters body, a trust or the like?

Sky Blues Trust, yes. But, by all accounts, they aren't that productive. Not my thoughts, I don't really know anything about them. Good one to ask about them is LeamingtonBootboy - note, he's not a fan!

Good man, cpfcfly, so many clubs have been thru or are going thru this crap. Ultimately tho' the club survives....the vultures fuck off and the eagles return

Nice reference. :claping hands:

In 2005 the Holmesdale Fanatics were created. Along with the Crystal Palace Supporter's Trust (who are funding a new training complex in Bromley), they have given us a voice.

Now I know you have that daft "Singer's Corner" as it's called, but why not try and create a proper ultras group like us and sing chants against the owner's and hold demonstrations. Not only would it boost the amount you sing, it would help get you some publicity.

Probably not the best suggestion but it helped us.

I've done palace and derby. Next I was going to do leeds and charlton. I was looking at all clubs that have been in admin and any that may have been in similar positions to us (the 2 sheffield clubs spring to mind as well). I think supporters from teams like those will understand more what we're going through. Cheers though mate, tell you what, you do the sheffield clubs, I'll get on with leeds and charlton?

why don't you try the Norwich fans - always seem to have a fairly good relationship with them or even the hammers, Birmingham city ( quoting we hate Villa more than you!) -would do myself but I am a bit s*** at these technical things.

We need leaders. People who know their stuff and can organise. Having spoken to cpfcfly via PM organising the fans into a real protest group is our best way to put pressure on sisu/board. Until we are organised (numbers will grow) it will just be the same old rants on forums with the odd banner in the ground. As Brinner & co are already active these guys could be ideal with some help and good ideas just as cpfcfly has given.

Well, that's a good idea. Personally I think Brinner and co are currently tied up in an abandoned warehouse being tortured :thinking about:! I would've thought we'd have heard about their meeting by now

I like the idea of the "faceless" masks, but I reckon they would be confiscated by the stewards as a fire risk.......anyone know where tp get a supply of fireproof paper??

Just had a quick thought.

You're all talking about wearing masks, but why not just wear black? The HF do it as a protest against modern football. You could wear all black as a protest against the club, by not wearing colours. It would definately stand out in the sky blue Ricoh of yours. Plus it's not a "health and safety hazard".

Red and Black! Singers FC colours! I'm gonna have another crack at the Sheffield sites tomorrow... It seems an age to authenticate my accounts!

If we get 100,000 posts does can we get it into parliament? I'm unsure of the rules surrounding it perhaps Bob Ainsworth can give us a voice.

Also ... why have protests stopped at games? Bollocks that it puts the team off as one of the best atmospheres and performances was the Derby game. Its hardly as if we're winning without the protest so I think we need to vocalise. It may not achieve anything but that's not an excuse not to try. I'm going to be working on a banner for the next home game:

Coventry City Fans
United. So
Now It's
Time To Go
SISU

I know it's none of my business but wouldn't this be better:

"F*ck you, SISU!"

Probably be easier and cheaper too. ;)

It would but I want be allowed back in when they've fkd off and I could 'honestly' say that I hadn't noticed the previous unsavoury message where as "F*ck you SISU" doesn't leave much room for ambiguity :)

Whatever happened to "freedom of speech"? Besides aren't your stewards quite friendly? They were with us in the away end.

Keep it punchy and catchy. Keeps the message clear. =)

I assume the "friendly stewards" quote is ironic? They are only a marginal improvement on our owners and good old West Midlands Police.

Not so much recently. Freedom of speech hasn't had much of an airing in the Ricoh this season

I think we need to do something to at least make us feel better and feel at least we tried and didn't roll over.

I still think it will not change a thing though. They are spiteful, probably make them rape us more
