To be fair, forget the City element of it, but if you can see theTitanic heading towards:thinking about: an iceberg, you've got a fairly decent idea of what's going to happen next - doesn't mean you want it to happen, or are going to enjoy it

You cant take the Coventry element out of the discussion, my point is your betting against my team to be relegated, that's it - your Titanic analogy doesn't work - if it where Villa or Leicester, yep totally understand but Cov? No I cant agree.

Ok. So, if you had a crystal ball and it said, for example, come May we were relegated. You have £10K in the bank. You seriously think its disloyal to put the bet on for a guaranteed £80K?

If Paulo Sousa came back here as manager, I'd bet every penny I could get my hands on that we'd go down.

Their is not one fan on this site that would be happy to see us go down. Bar anything other than a miracle I can't not see it happening, so might as well make a bit of money out of this cluster fuch SHITSU has done to our club

Just tried paddypower and bet365 and neither would allow a fourfold accumulator on those selections!!!
No idea why!!!!

I think it's more likely because a) they stopped taking bets on Celtic about a year ago and b) the website doesn't understand 'Leeds promotion'.

Yes - I do mate -- and Lee lets have less of the FFS mate, lets keep it civil, OK. I will not bet AGAINST my team and anyone that does should give their head a shake IMO - not too sure what part of this you can not understand - money is not everything...unless you have a gambling problem then I guess it is.

Oh Dear!
Look, I don't gamble - I think it is a mug's game. But even so I have no problem with a ccfc fan having a bet on ccfc, be it a bet to win, lose, get promotion or get relegated. Would you be upset if a Coventry supporter placed a bet on another team winning a game, even if that team winning meant we would be relegated? Where do set the limits of what you think is justifiable or not?
I just do not understand why this upsets you so much.

I can see us being in a scrap but can't see us going down at the moment.... But the end of the seasons a long way away and alot can happen between now and then (something positive for a change would be nice)

All depends on your opinion on betting. Ive bet literally on anything since I was 12. Bet on what you want right? Betting isnt a vote of support. If a gambling man sees 9/1 and thinks in reality its 4/1 then he should bet. You dont have to want it to happen.

This is it in a nutshell for me.

It is all about an edge and trying to find value and unfortunately I believe 9-1 is massive value on us to get relegated considering our current predicament and the simple fact that we might still yet get a 15 point deduction.

This is a simple black and white bet and does not have any bearing on your support for a team.

Always makes me laugh when people say I don't bet on my own team when they are the one team you know most about but then are happy to then throw a third division Scottish side in their accumulator that they know fuck all about!!

personally i never bet on the city as i would normally back them to win which is a bit silly at the moment!! if you were a betting man, this seems good value to be fair and doesnt mean that the chap would puts the bet on is going to activly cheer the other team on every week!

Just have visions of fans sittign their with Swindon scarves on etc

Been betting against cov since I can remember. Its paid for many a game / transport. Never want to win, but it's ccfc, they have a habit of making me cash in !.

Someone do the maths over the past 5 years or so. Laying cov to win will show that you will be massively up in your money !.

It's not ccfc fan v non ccfc fan. It's up in money v losing

Ha, so accusing me of having a gambling addiciton is 'civil'?! :thinking about:

As clearly stated by almost everbody on this thread, bar yourself, nobody backing us to get relegated wants it to happen.

At 8/1, us going down is a value bet. You should jump on it because the odds won't be available for long. You can use the winnings, like I plan to, on a post-season curry and a few jars to marginally ease the pain of what S**U are doing to us.

Again it does not upset me it embarrasses me...the limits are simple DON'T BET ON CCFC GETTING RELEGATED...not sure how many more times I have to say it...it's not the gambling fair play to you all that have a punt, no issues what so ever - its the fact that you are prepared to make money out of such a shite situation as relegation. I am allowed an opinion? if you don't agree with me well that fine too...democracy at work.

I never accused you of having a gambling problem I stated a fact, if a person has a an addiction that requires money to feed it - money is everything, your a bit of a drama queen are you not...? If a thousand people tell you black is white - is it? no of course not, so In my humble opinion i will stick to not betting on my team being relegated - and I'm sure if it happens you'll enjoy your well earned curry.

Hedge funds bet all the time, generally they invest in a company, then bet against that company to minimise any risks...

Say a particular business was exporting goods, and therefore reliant on an exchange rate, if a hedge fund owned that business, it would bet on the exchange rate moving adversely in order to minimise the impact of adverse movement, so long as it guaranteed an acceptable level of profit. Therefore it can be said that the hedge fund gambles on what it doesn't want to happen...

Nobody knows Cov like we do.

The bookies are offering 8/13...If that seems a good price you have to bet it.

BETTING is not about your heart & what you WANT TO HAPPEN ..it's about beating the bookie with your head with WHAT YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN.

Anyone who don't get that is a little dumb.
