You might think the Championship is strong, but your delusional. And if you think everyone else is window licking, maybe, just maybe its you that's talking bollocks.

Money spent on transfers is no guarantee of quality, (I hate to burst thst bubble for you)
The fact is average players are now costing a fortune.

Now wake the fuck up.

I'm delusional?

You do realise that in an attempt to prove Hull are a poor side, the best you could come up with was describing them as "1 win away from 16th place."

R.e. your second point, no, it doesn't guarantee quality, but investment into a squad is generally a key outliner to improving it.

The Championship spent about as much in this window than they have in the past 3 summer windows. More investment should in theory correlate to better quality overall across the league, yes there will be plenty of examples of poor recruitment in there - e.g. Norwich as it stands.

Just to go back further than that, more was also spent this summer just gone in the Championship than in the summer windows from 19/20 through to 23/24 as clubs were recovering from the financial burden of the pandemic / no crowds, where the rough spending average per window sat at around £35m.

It's worth noting that especially in those early Covid years net spend was also very high so a lot of talent was leaving as well.

There is an inflation issue in football where transfers are continually costing more, that's a given, but that hardly means the players are all crap.

Taking the upcoming away games against Ipswich and Southampton in isolation, 2 points would be better than 3. That pair plus Brum are undoubtedly starting to flex. Although they are all dangerous opponents (especially away) the pressure is now massively on them to try and claw back ground.

If we don’t lose to Ipswich and win at North End, it’s written in the stars
Starting to flex? What does that mean?

if another team were as far ahead as we are now, we would accept we were in a battle for 2nd at best
It is not just the position, its the ridiculous amount of goals we have scored and keep scoring

we have the 1st/3rd/6th/17th top scorers in the League
Others EMC / Saka/ Thomas/Kitching /Rudoni have all scored at least 2
We have had 12 different scorers in 17 games
No matter who is out injured, someone else just fits in

If this was any other team, we would be calling them uncatchable and unstoppable
It is only because "It never happens to people like us" - that we are all still doubting it

This is the season, enjoy the ride

Every year, apparently the league gets worse. Thinking back 15-20 years ago when we were in the Championship, I do remember it now, it was like watching Messi and Ronaldo on a weekly basis.
The memories of our prime championship midfields
Hughes and Doyle
Baker and Bell
Sideways Sammy

Gives me nightmares thinking about it

People said the same about Luton...... People said it about Leeds when they went down..... No doubt people said it about us too. Reputation and squad "value" doth butter no parsnips.
Though Gus is back now, id be VERY surprised if Blunts are anywhere near the bottom half, let alone the bottom 3 come the end of the season.

Well well well, if there's one result thst totally proves my point about teams in this league its tonight's result.

Oxford 2 Ipswich 1

Now i'll just sit back like a smug twat and await your mental gymnastics as you try and justify your previous nonsense 🤔

Sorry just to confirm, one single game across a 46 game season proves your point?

It's getting quite hilarious how with every post you somehow manage to appear thicker.

Feel free to keep trying to checkmate me though. At this point it's like playing chess with a chimp.

Wasn't really just one game though was it, it was virtually the very next game.
Tbf I thought you'd do far better than that, looks like you've run out of steam.

Good result tonight. I'd settle for a point tomorrow to get us a further point away from Ipswich

Ah okay thanks you've really cleared that up for me and everyone else reading this thread I'm sure.

Well I don't think I really need to break much of a mental sweat with you Fatso. It's probably on par to when I'm playing Connect 4 with my 5 year old niece. After a while it gets a tad boring winning so I start just going through the motions.

Im sure you get a lot of pleasure from beating a 5 year old.

Why doesn't that suprise me?

Dont sweat it, he'll try and make you look stupid, but in 2 weeks time will repeat what you've said trying to look clever! Thats his thing.

Ipswich's result against Oxford sort of tells us what chasing teams have to do and how small the window of opportunity they have to catch us. We on the other hand can drop in form to be what a mid table team would do and still get top 2. Our start has placed us in an unbelievable position, and its not even recent form but consistent form over 40 odd games that puts us on a different level to others.

That said, FL has to keep everyone's feet on the ground and a focus within the group that the next game and the next 3 Points is just that. Not part of an end, just an opportunity to get 3 points. No assumptions, no complacency, no distractions just hard work 3 points and onto the next. This squad will have plenty of time to look back and celebrate if they keep the standards high, because if they do the outcome is very clear.

I've got no skin in this argument you two are having but come on, 1 result proves nothing, you know that.

Your right, 1 result in isolation proves nothing, but my original point was that apart from the top 3, every other team has been inconsistent, (to a degree) and on any given day any team has a chance of taking points off any opponent, this is mainly down to the quality of most teams not being particularly high.

The teams that came down have had their struggles, as have those that came up (despite spending silly money in some cases) My Birmingham supporting colleague thought they would piss tjis league, as did some Wrexham fans initially.

Just using Oxford as an example (as I mentioned them previously)
They are a struggling side in a relegation battle, but have already taken points off us, Middlesbrough, Leicester, Bristol City, Derby, Millwall and now Ipswich.

That's 6 out of the top 8 teams.
That just highlights what I was previously saying, this League is very average in terms of quality, and any side that can maintain its form will put long winning runs together and fly up the league.

Who'd of thought Portsmouth would beat Millwall and Middlesbrough for example

Another example would be QPR, they went on a great run after the thrashing they got here, but once that defeat was forgotten they have fallen away dramatically.

Derby were nowhere earlier in the season but are now rapidly climbing with 4 wins out of 5

Southampton looked like being dragged into a relegation scrap, but 4 wins on the bounce has turned it around.

In short, its not just 1 game, its a trend over the whole of the season so far, everyone is taking points off each other. (Apart, mainly from the top 3) so that means any team capable of putting a sustained run together can pull away.
You could of course argue that's always been the case, but I'd say its been way more prevalent so far this season.

Not one poster is wasting their time reading this garbage. It's like the ramblings of a village meth head that shouts at traffic.

Also, so much for Hull being a poor side....
