It was an odd variation on it and very narrow, but it was just about. I don't think LM is Sheff's best role by any means, but RM is where Baker has produced his best games for us, and in Norwood and Deegan we have a perfectly complimentary partnership for the middle of a 4. They were the base we've been lacking with Sammy so deep.

It was almost 4222 at times...Baker and Sheff effectively filled the "hole" role by cutting inside to drive at goal when they could. Full-backs less attacking but better protected by the wide-men. Tireless pressing high up the pitch. And two CM's that not only pass first-time, but also TACKLE!

It certainly wasn't conventional due to the lack of pace we have out wide but it did allow us to get plenty of support up to the front two. Lets not forget though that despite us creating some decent chances and Nimley's exciting runs that drew the penalties, it was still the penalties that we scored as in the last home game and nothing away. There were encouraging signs but we need some goals from open play as we can't rely on those decisions however stick on they were.

Really? I know I'm biased so difficult to say but from where I was it looked nailed on although he was already clipped outside the box before that one too imo. Did the tv show a close up then .. and when you say soft do you mean dived or only little contact and anything on the ball? ~Not had benefit of replay yet so thx in advance.

Liked the way their goallie tried to tell the ref the lino had flagged for the initial foul in the build up outside the box. Excellent ref tonight 10-10 .

I've only seen it briefly on SSN so it was just first instinct. Doesn't really matter anyway!

I'm amazed we hav'nt heard the term"Beckenbuaresque " or "Beresi" like mentioned tonight, what a great run ,he was going all the way before the dirty git took him down.;):D

I used both terms at the match to describe the two Keogh barnstorming runs! 2nd one was utterly unstoppable without a foul, it looked like he was going to go the entire length of the pitch. Maybe "Konjic-esque" is the right term for those?

Maybe we need to be down to the bar bones more often. Then we can continue to not play the diamond.
