Recon someone did up the Ricoh last night mate! The smell of shite was getting right up my nose. Either it was manure spreading or what was being served up on the pitch methinks

That used to be me before my infamous sharting incident of 2006. Not been able to face eating falafel and only particpate in cautious cheek lifting ever since.

Keeping clean sheets is fine, but it's relegation form if you can't find the net at the other end. Looking forward to Bradford even less now!

Over these 3 games (all against opposition tipped to finish in the bottom half) we have had a total of 7 shots on target, used 19 players, used all three substitutes in every game, and have had several players playing out of position due to a combination of injuries, lack of a settled formation, and the team not being complete yet.
We are paying the price for this in the results and it calls into question TMs tactics and preparation over the summer.

The club has always used the loan system extensively.

Without sordell we have no forwards. At least we now can see why tudgay doesn't play.

If we don't get two good strikers in we are in big trouble.

Two points from a possible nine... means we're already in big trouble Grendel.

This pretty much sums up Mowbray and most unsuccessful managers who dabble too much.

Barnsley show that not to be the case.

That last sentence is what I've been preaching the whole time.

A few posters have told me to refrain judgment until the end of the transfer window, which I will do, but I can't say this has looked to be part of a masterplan.

Things aren't great, but I'm still very glad we have Mowbray in charge: he is far more likely to be able to pull off decent loan signings late in the transfer window than many other L1 managers.

I think back to when we rushed out and bought Malaga and Edjenguele... Shudder... All too easy to go for quantity not quality

One thing concerning me though is that George Thomas's confidence is clearly very low: I was hoping this would be the season he began to break through, now I think the sooner we are in a position to loan him out, the better.

No I don't think it's a crises yet as we can sign players still - if we don't yes we are in big trouble.

For a guy with a reputation for not being able to finish the job after Christmas, writing off August seems risky to me if we genuinely have promotion hopes. January will already need a mini rebuild - McCann, Page, any player sales to balance the books or further loans til Jan. If the plan has changed to just bringing the kids through then I'll support that and it's great they're all doing so well but that's not what we've been lead to believe is the aim.

Malaga and the "Edje" were brought in on the recommendation of none other than SAF..... and "Edje" is far and away the best defender than anything we've got atm. Just like you, this is my opinion

Yeah must say I was a little disappointed when edje left. Didn't know SAF recommended Malaga though. Fuck knows what he saw there.

Have you seen all of our current defenders then?

I thought they were recommended by the Newcastle scout?

Either way, look how they turned out. Malaga in the 4th Tier of french football and Edge just keeps getting his contracts cancelled.

Why - you've got Haynes and a fit again Stokes by then hopefully to play on the left. That leaves McCann. We have no other loanees at the moment do we?

"Sillett, speaking at a lunch which was attended by a number of his former team-mates including Bill Tedds, Ronnie Farmier, Dietmar Bruck, Ken Satchwell, Ken Brown, Brian Nicholas and Lol Harvey, also praised City's defence saying that Richard Wood has been much better of late, Edjenguele was excellent and Cyrus Christie was bombing on,"...... Then again what does Sillett know about football

No other loanees yet, no. But I'd expect we will need at least 2 strikers in on loan to get the calibre of striker we need - let's hope they're season-long but there seems to be an increasing trend this year with the new rules, to do window to window rather than season long. I'm also not sure of Stokes as a wing back, but that's just my own thoughts on him.

I guess I'm just concerned what impact the January window will have on any momentum we'll have built up by then if we end up having to sell a player, negotiate new loans etc

So you are comparing him based on a quote somebody made who has probably seen him play in 1 or 2 games?

I think Sillett has seen Edje play more than a "Couple of times"..... But there again you know better(Along with a few others) than anyone else, so I'll bow to your superior knowledge of football :finger:

Has he? More than the managers who keep cancelling his contracts? More than the failed trials?

How many times did you see him play?

He had 1 decent game, against Birmingham but that could have been down to King being shocking that night...

Ronaldo would get into the box which would give the rest of the team a chance of creating something, our strikers didn't want to get into the 18 yard box last night.

It's OK criticising Jones and Reid but they got nothing from Tudgay and Thomas.

I like Tudgay, comes across as a decent fella but he looked finished to me last night.

So you are now comparing Edge to Pele?

You said you thought he was much better than any of our current players, was just asking how?

Those on here who were constantly having a go at Jacob Murphy should now be having a good look at themselves, frustrating player yes but what was it ? 10 goals, 10 assists ! and in his first full season yet he took merciless abuse from some on here.

Perhaps we could pick Ken Satchwell for the Bradford game decent centre forward who could ghost into goal scoring positions...he died about 6 months ago !

FFS, there's 44 games still to go and our squad isn't complete yet. Wigan only had 4 points after 4 games last season and a goal difference of -1. They ended up 13 points clear of 6th place.

I'm not saying we're going to do a Wigan but some people need to get a grip.

Rochdale 5 goals scored
Sheffield Utd 5 goal scored
Shrewsbury 5 goals scored
Wimbledon 7 goals scored

all these clubs have scored quite a few goals in 3 games and are at the foot of the table, there needs to be a balance
of defence to attacking else we can go a blow our budgets on a goal scorer like those above and come january we
probably would need to do something drastic. TM is right strikers dont grow on trees and the ones we need are probably on loans
from Premiership Clubs and he is having to wait until the Big clubs sort their squads out. It dire to watch i know but hopefully
we can protect our position until the End of August (if we have not found one then we should start to panic)
