Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window (41 Viewers)

Not saying this is ideal. But Rudoni can play on either left or right flank. Da Silva started his career as a winger. MVE is dangerous in advanced positions on the right. Eccles has played advanced wide right. BTA actually played very wide for WBA a lot of the time. Raphael may or may not be a different proposition this year we don't know.

Some of those are options. Okay not as good as your first choice wingers, but that is football management, adapting and finding a way.

The idea of signing a winger who is good on the right and left is not a bad one and I do think Saka needs competition. Also there are elements of his game that needs improving. For me he is in the same camp as Torp, Eccles, EMC, Thomas and Kitching. Players we can still develop.

Just think we need another attacking option off the bench. Even a loan that can fill in either side would get a lot of minutes coming in at 60-70 pretty much every game regardless.

You know what I'm glad that Sunderland went up and not us. They're having a real go in the window fair play. Bling would have been scraping around for coppers to sign Jamie Vardy on a free, and would have told Lampard Lati is good enough back up for the Prem.
I can’t tell if something is sarcasm anymore and I blame this site 🤣

Think that might be an issue . Clubs will want their players playing and not warming the bench week after week

To be fair if he's filling in for two positions I'd imagine he'd get a good amount of game time. He'd probably be coming off the bench at least once a week and with squad rotation / injuries he'd no doubt start.

There could also be a possibility of a loan-to-buy.

Me too but just wouldn’t like the club to gamble with money we don’t have as it’s dependent on other clubs.

Least if I’m right we could go out and sign another player maybe the Belgium striker
I'd very much doubt we will spend any sort of fee of £5m+ on anyone.

Personally I think that's nonsense.

What competent businessman would invest a seven figure sum into something on the basis that windfall might come in to fund it.

I think it’s nonsense, but I also think Doug’s essentially provided bridging funding knowing that at least one decent chunk of cash will come in this summer. Whether that’s the Gyokeres sell-on or a sale of Van Ewijk/Sheaf/Rudoni/Wright. But equally I’m assuming he’s willing to let it slide if nothing comes to fruition - we won’t be in fire sale territory.

Who said that in January?

Shall we have a charity bet then, that we wont spend upwards of £5m on someone this window?

Sure it was said days before Grimes was signed. "There's no money" is said every window.

I'll take the bet. £20 says we sign someone for £5m or more this window. If we get an undisclosed signing who is worth £5m or more on Transfermarkt, I win too. :ROFLMAO:

The bet is only with CC84 unfortunately ;)

Without interest in Lati, Binks, and Simms we have built up a fair bit of deadwood. I say that, if someone could physically put some fire in Simms' belly we'd be sorted up front.
After trying everything else it's time to bring in a top hypnotist. 😁

To be fair I remember a lot of posters saying we were skint and had no money left apart from free agents like pato.

Was definitely a surprise when it got leaked
Agee, it wasn't just January either. Every single transfer window we have to read the same nonsense about how its a "1in, 1 out policy", or that we haven't got a pot to piss in etc. And every window we have subsequently strengthened the squad.

Lampard in his interview strongly suggests he wants to strengthen the squad. For us now its quality over quantity. We have the bases of a very good squad and anyone that comes in needs to be better than what we have which is difficult.

We have already spent a reported 3.5/4 on a quality young player and I am certain there will be more signings. I feel so calm about where the club is at and we appear to know what we are doing unlike some other clubs.
