Because standing out in a team with worse players is surely more difficult right? I look forward to you being wrong.
So standing out in a poor team is harder than standing out in a good team?

I absolutely hope I'm wrong. But name the last player we signed that played well from the start of the season.

Well obviously because they have worse players around them playing against better teams.

Have it on Good authority that Gus is going to the Blues!
Not a chance in hell. Firstly they haven’t had the turnover to be able to go all out spending. While it has increased they still aren’t at a level PSR wise where they can spend that kind of money. There was an article about their finances recently, effectively they need a solid season this year with a strong turnover and then next year they will be free to go at it.
Add to this that Sheff Utd now have a wealth of cash as well, there’s only one move for him and it’s upwards believe he has a clause that allows him to go to a Prem Club if they failed to get promoted.

Correct. He showed he had ability to make it good. But it didn't happen straight away. Then in the second half of the season he became a beast.

This is what makes me laugh. We have constantly had to wait for the new players to settle in before they show what they can do. Yet there's always some that never learn that it nearly always takes a bit of time and expect players to hit the ground running.

Premiership teams expect players coming from other countries, especially young players, to take over 12 months to settle. Especially if it is the first time they have moved to another country.

This is getting silly. Find someone else to put this rubbish across to them. Because whichever way you put it you have this part totally the wrong way around. A good player will always look better than poor players in the same squad. It's like trying to say our worst players look better because they play with better players 😂😂😂

So a player playing for the side that finished in 20th and beat relegation by 1 point is a better player than a player who was easily one of the best in a side that finished in 5th and were unlucky in the playoffs?

MVE had plenty of good players to be better than. KKH was the only decent player Preston had.

Instead of continuing with this stupid argument how about waiting until a couple of months into the season. Then look again in January and look at the improvement.

Preston lost fewer games than we did last season

There are lots of examples where players look good in a really good side, but not so good when they leave that side. Ashley Grimes playing for Manchester United and then Ashley Grimes playing for Coventry City is one.

That's not the point being put across though. KKH was supposed to have a harder job looking better than the poor players they had. Now he is with us it will be much harder for him to take all the awards.

I have a few questions i have for those that don't consider the full picture when signing someone. How did it go last time you changed jobs? Was it easy? Did it take time to take everything in? Were you the best at your job straight away? Did it take time to settle in?

It wasn't a Rudoni problem though was it. You could say the same of Torp and Sakamoto and numerous others. We were very inconsistent. I still felt Rudoni showed more than most early on.

So why were they only 1 point from relegation and we were in the playoffs. Must be something to do with they only won 10 games all season and we won 20 games. They lost 16 we lost 17.

Yep. They won few games and their season completely disintegrated after they were knocked out of the FA cup in the quarter finals. Should we expect their right back to primarily help them win matches or stop them losing them?

I don't mind him but wasn't 100% sold on Astute.

#confused.
Yes it is me.

I'll say it again for those who missed it before. During Covid my wife got seriously ill. As she was having treatment my youngest daughter then ended up with a serious illness. Being in England i couldn't visit for 14 months because of border restrictions on both sides. At the same time as struggling to cope with everything the idiots on here started. I stopped coming on here and even had a lot less to do with footbal as a whole. But it showed both sides of several on here. I said about my serious mental health problems but this seemed like the green light for some on here to help my mental health deteriorate whilst they were saying on the mental health thread how people need all the help they can get.

But as things started to improve life started to get back to 'normal'. I still wasn't coming on here to be an idiots plaything. The problem was without signing in I had to find where I had got to in each thread every time. So I made up one to be able to keep up with where I had got to. The problem is this place gets a hold on you. Think it was where every player we had signed were supposed to be shite. I tried to remind people it isn't easy for a.new player to hit the ground running. And like I kept saying we turned our season around.

The one reason I'm still on here is it's the best place to find out the latest news. Makes it easier to plan my flights for games on top of everything else. I can't be wound up like before as my mind is in a very good place and my wife finally got the all clear and just has to go for extra checks to make sure the cancer isn't back. My daughter has also recovered and has now restarted her education.

So this 'they lost less games than us' when it was only by 1 is neither here nor there.

Hey, I wasn't really aware of all of that to be honest. I'm sure I kind of recall something about you or her being abroad (France?).

I'm sure you and I had disagreements on stuff before (I'm pretty sure I said something along the lines of 'you're not actually that Astute then' - or words to that affect) but no one deserves that sort of pressure on their mental health, especially with two of the closest people you'll ever know, being seriously ill.

I'm glad they're both well now and your daughter has re-started her education - must be a weight off your mind!

FWIW, I've agreed with a lot of your posts as Lamps. This little re-incarnation has done you well ;-)

I didn't call it a Rudoni problem. I mentioned even a player like Rudoni who finished the season as a beast didn't hit the road running. Players rarely do. So i don't expect KKH to do it either. But as he settles in i can see him being excellent for us.

I think you are over labouring your point. We all know Rudoni got better as the season went on but so did the team and other players.

If you are arguing fans don't give players enough time to settle you are arguing with the wrong fan mate.

Finally, you get the point. I was replying to those expecting KKH to be excellent from the start.

I haven't finally got any point as my opinions haven't changed. Plus you were replying to me.

Thanks for that

It's a bit of a long story. When the Brexit vote happened I just knew it would be an out vote. I had always planned to retire to France when I reached 60. People thought i wanted Brexit even though it was the last thing I wanted. So my wife and youngest 3 children came to France in 2019 to beat Brexit. Thought I had everything planned perfectly. Then Covid happened......

In 2023 I became 55. I retired and joined my family. So much had gone on I just couldn't stay in the UK for even another single day as my family needed me. We're not rich but a simple life here is better than slogging away in the UK to tread water. My children will be able to buy their own home at a younger age. We have been living in this present house for a couple of years now. Saw the French police here for the first time about a month ago. It was for a missing person. I know my children are safe.
