I would absolutely consider upgrading Kitching a priority. Think we could do with one of two profiles:

1) An experienced rock. Fadz but younger. Doesn't make mistakes and can organise the rest of defence.
2) A speed demon to help stop the counter attacks we naturally concede from with Lampard's high line.
Ideally an experienced speed demon rock

Bobby Thomas:
Duel success: ~58%
Aerials: Wins about 62% — good but not enough to dominate big Championship strikers.

Liam Kitching:
Duel success: ~68%, big difference!
Aerials: Wins about 71%, much stronger in aerial battles, so crosses and long balls are dealt with more confidently.
Yeah but Bobby also got 5 goals which makes up for any difference in my eyes.

Bit harsh, our defence improved massively when he was brought back into the team.
If we had started the season with Kitching and Thomas as CH pairing, and Dovin in goal (and injury free) we'd of looked very solid, In stead we were shipping 2 goals a game without him.

If he has a full pre-season under Lampards guidance I think he will be a very good leader in the back line.

I'd still bring another CH in, as Lats and Binks arnt upto the standard we need to be at, and need moving on imo.

Just read we're linked with a 23 year old Brazilian CB called David Sousa, played for 2 of Brazil's biggest clubs, spent 2 years onloan at Brugge.

At the time of his arrival with Cercle, the club's technical director at the time Carlos Aviña said of Sousa: "As a central defender, David is one of the greatest young Brazilian talents...David is positive-aggressive on the ball and dominant in aerial duels. He will certainly have a big impact in our team".

Pete O’Rourke doesn’t work for FLW anymore. The David Sousa “exclusive” was written by a 25yo editorial assistant who’s never worked anywhere than FLW and the whole story is piggybacking off The Athletic who wrote about Swansea having a bid rejected for him.

This is why I should read an article myself first 😉
