I'm sure its Lampards idea, someone of that stature wouldn't get cucked by a Championship striker. It's just whether it was his idea because he likes Wright there, or whether it was his idea because Simms and BTA don't really do anything for him, which you couldn't blame him for.
Let’s face it Wright is better off the left, we know that, but he should be able to do a good job up front, pretty sure he played his whole career there before we moved him.

Any other news? It's a done deal, having a medical today. That's from proper sources
Dolan??Any other news?
No one is saying we don’t need some improvements but your drivel about Kitching is nonsenseThis seems to be a common thread this summer. We came fifth so no need for any improvements. I doubt Lampard or King see it that way.
People using Leeds as the barometer are going to be really disappointed. No one is saying we don’t need some improvements but your drivel about Kitching is nonsense

It could be a very interesting season for Wright in that, if we do bring in a 'marquee' CF i'm not sure he's a nailed on starter every week, given that imo a least, Lampard prefers EMC on the left. I'm sure he'd still play loads and we'd shuffle the pack up front to keep everyone fresh but if we're in a position where a player as good as Wright isn't completely nailed on to start whenever he's even remotely fit then we really are cooking something.I agree based on the eye test, I think the stats are a little closer, I just worry Lampard wants a very specific type of wide forward (one who can cross) and that’s not the type Wright wants to be, but he’s by far the best finisher we have and has the build to play that role so frustrating to not be able to fit him in.
No it was Leeds.Last I checked in this thread the team being used was Hull.
.No it was Leeds.
Only 3 other teams scored more than us... Leeds, Burnley and Norwich. We conceded 4 more than Hull, who finished 21st surviving only on goal difference. Boring I know
So leeds like I said. Thanks.

OK?You are utterly clueless
who said that hahahahaOK?
The argument seems to be that because we made an FA Cup semi-final two years ago there’s no need to upgrade the squad, even in its weakest areas. Bring back Kasey Palmer imo.

I’d like the detractors to give me their ‘expert’ opinion on why when Kitching was in the team, we leaked roughly 0.97 goals per game. When he didn’t play, that figure jumped to 1.58.who said that hahahaha
I’d say LB and CB are the two weakest areas for me. The midfield is strong and we score goals for fun.Centre half isn't anywhere close to its weakest area though is it?
Well our central striker has not scored goals for fun. That, LB and goalkeeper are the weakest areas.I’d say LB and CB are the two weakest areas for me. The midfield is strong and we score goals for fun.
Has procdoc said that’s happening too?Dolan??

I think we need to improve upon the two ronnies in goal before either.I’d say LB and CB are the two weakest areas for me. The midfield is strong and we score goals for fun.

Who cares if the central striker doesn’t score? It’s the goals that we concede that are the problem.Well our central striker has not scored goals for fun. That, LB and goalkeeper are the weakest areas.
In fact if you’re going to be critical of our defence Bobby Thomas needs the most criticism really
We massively underperformed our xG last year. I'm pretty shocked you cannot see our need for quality finishers.Who cares if the central striker doesn’t score? It’s the goals that we concede that are the problem.
This is getting dangerously close to “Let’s win every game 5-4 territory” - I would sooner spend on upgrading at every defensive position this season before we think about signing another striker.
If we’re taking the opposite argument to the absurd extremes you are then we’re talking about finishing every game 0-0 unless Rudi can perform some magic.Who cares if the central striker doesn’t score? It’s the goals that we concede that are the problem.

Bobby Thomas:
Duel success: ~58%
Aerials: Wins about 62% — good but not enough to dominate big Championship strikers.
Liam Kitching:
Duel success: ~68%, big difference!
Aerials: Wins about 71%, much stronger in aerial battles, so crosses and long balls are dealt with more confidently.
Yes totally agreeIf we’re taking the opposite argument to the absurd extremes you are then we’re talking about finishing every game 0-0 unless Rudi can perform some magic.
In reality all areas of the pitch are open to improvement at any point.
I just don’t think the priority is our two very good centre halfs.
