I’ll put it in simple terms so even you understand.
in the championship Wright has 28 goals in 73 games. A majority scored from the left. Yet some people would be happy to let him go for well beneath his market value. It’s utter nonsensical madness

You can be as condescending as you like mate but you regularly chat shite with impunity, you fail to see past yourself. The fact you think you know what Hajis market value is says it all.

Transfermarkt says his market value is £8m

Haji Wright scored 12 goals in 29 matches in the Championship 2024/2025 season. 8 of the 12 goals were scored at home while he scored 4 goals at away games. Overall, Haji Wright's goals scored per 90 minutes is 0.51. Moreover, Haji Wright's total G/A (goals + assists) is 13 for this season. His goal involvement equates to 0.55 per 90 minutes. His Non-Penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.46. This puts Haji Wright's npxG output at 11.00 which puts him in the top 98 percentile of Championship players.

Combine this with his 16 league goals the previous season and you have a proven top performer in the championship. We also have leverage as he still has a lot of time on his contract. Therefore the minimum asking price should be around 12 - 14 million. Some people are suggesting way below that. We could potentially push for more depending on how many clubs are interested

1 goal every 2 and bit games is highly valued. We get 8 figures for Wright easily. He’s also an international.

wouldn’t be looking for anything less than double we bought him for

Possibly a cheaper option…get a striker coach in to work with the likes of Simms, Wright and BTA, Norm as well.

In their own weird ways, they’ve all got potential and are all so different to each other. Is it normal for a championship club to have a striker coach? Haven’t a clue to be honest but would be really pissed off if we lost money on any of them.

We signed simms and wright to replace gykores’s goals, wrights doing it on his own, we keep wright and sell simms, bassette has a good pre season and he’ll be back up with Asante, can’t see us signing another CF

There is a saying in football, you are only as good as your last game. However, there is also a saying, form is temporary, class is permanent.
My take on Haji is he is a class player and is a proven top scorer at Championship level. All players, particularly strikers, go through a period of poor form. The problem with society is the demand for instant gratification and if things are going awry, even for a short period of time, then there are always those who call for change. Some posters on here want to get rid of all our strikers and start again.
Haji is a marked man as he is our main danger. That creates space for others which gives players like Rudoni a better chance to score.
My concern with Haji is not his ability or his attitude but how he fits into our style of play. He wants balls to run onto, or get a defender isolated so he can run at them. See Torp's through balls in the Sunderland league match. He is less effective when he is getting the ball with his back to goal against a packed defence.
Anyone who judges Haji on two semi final games should look at the first season Cyril Regis had with us or Dovin in his first few games. They were both very poor but came good due to their ability.

The Gyokeres sell-on money isn't as high as I'd imagine the club expected a year ago. Sheaf isn't likely to be worth what we all imagined 12 months ago.

Not selling Haji for the money mentioned on here is a massive gamble for Doug. Can we afford not to sell him for a profit?

We are in a very good position as the club is going in the right direction in most aspects. We still need to get this window right to improve again, which should be our aim. Lots of good players out there that would improve the squad, but what id like to see is 1 or 2 of our own stepping up. They in all seriousness have too for the model to work. I liked the look of Obikwu, Andrews is obviously full of potential and Moore has a reputation within the club of being very good. If 1 or 2 can step up with hopefully a big improvement with Rod and Bassette its a positive step for the club.

The players out there id like to see are Dolan, Aasgard, Goodrhum, S Thomas, J Knight, Bundu, Selech, M Bird, Ali, McConnell, Darling, Toffolo, Worrell, Doyle, KKH, Brau, Kipre, P Charles, Pandur or Gunn or Kaminski to give time for Dovin to fully recover.

It’s a gamble to sell if it leaves us a weaker team selling Haji.

You’re looking at spending around £10m for a striker to replace him and that player would likely have higher wages. Anything less than £15m is a waste of time for us.

Don’t get the rush from some fans who want to break up our forward line. We finished 3rd top scorers, we’d of been higher if wright hadn’t of missed so many games, it’s at the back we need to strengthen, centre Half, LB and temp keeper and maybe cover for MVE, apart from that I’d keep wright, simms, bassette and Asante, replace wright with someone who just runs around a bit more but prob won’t score as many, pointless

Only thing I'd personally do to the forward line is get a loan for Bassette so he plays regularly and go get another forward in the mould of Godden if possible

still Think bassette gets a bit more time, just needs to prove he’s good enough, which I think he will be, from what lampards said he needs to show a bit more in training. good Pre season and he could be the suprise of next season

Haji is clearly a very good player and would command £15m minimum before a sale was considered.

I'm still pissed off at him for lack of effort when it really mattered, not just the playoffs but those winnable games leading up to them.

All in all I think he stays unless he kicks up a massive fuss or we get a very decent offer and that's ok.

In reality , we have a good quality front line .
We’re disappointed over Hadji’s seemingly lack of interest in the games that mattered , along with Simm’s & Asante’s contribution at times , but they are ours .
Frank will ultimately know their limits by now & freshening up the front line I don’t think will cost mega bucks .

Haji I don’t think will work in the formation Lampard wants to play. He doesn’t have enough in his locker to be that sole striker.

We need someone who can and is consistent.

Total agree. If we stick with this system and what I saw especially second leg of the semi final we need a proper champ target man. A focal point. We produce lots of crosses and balls in.

Someone like a Kiefer Moore or a Carlton Morris. A big massive guy up front who puts himself about a bit. Might not be the best quality wise but will be a nuisance someone who can win a header or score a header or pick an easy second ball off.

Haji simply doesn’t offer you anything like it. If we had a big man up front to scare Sunderland a bit we would have won so many more second balls and headers and then who knows what would have happened.

Kiefer Moore great pass to set up Sunderland's winner at Wembley . Morris had poor season.

Wow what a complete and utter melt down in this group!!!! All of you should just stay away from the CBS toxic bollocks all the time!!! Haji wrights been out for months with an injury and still finishes as our highest goal scorers on 12!!! What does that tell you about the rest of the strike force? They aren't that good and the players behind them providing for the goals aren't that good either!! It's a team game.. now shut the fuck up and enjoy the process!! We are in the best position we have been in seasons and half of you wouldn't of even been interested in the shit era!! Get behind the lads you bunch of wet wipes

I really can’t understand the lack of recognition on here for Wright. A forward every championship club would take. Ok, he had two average games that some just can’t see past. His market value is easily 15 m but we should fight tooth and nail to keep him. I can categorically state that Gyokeres who has now entered some kind of folklore had a good number of absolutely stinking games. It’s madness to want rid of Wright
