I also think Torp not playing a full 90 isn't necessarily all down to his stamina but also in part down to the fact that we have got able bodied players to come on and replace him. Whatever the reason anyway, we're winning games.
I agree. Midfield players cover over 12kms a game and the key element in the team staff decision is managing the volumes the players cover. We need players capable of playing 46 games at a high level.
The fact we have players on the bench that come on and add greater intensity is a bonus this season.

I bring it back to Sam Rak-Sakyi who we were supposedly interested in last January. Don’t know enough about him but could potentially look at someone like that on a permanent who won’t necessarily expect to play every game but in the long term may have what it takes at PL level. It’s difficult, though.
If we were interested in the summer I can’t see why we won’t be now

Allen played that role in January before Grimes was signed. Eccles has the ability to play there imo. That’s not the same as saying they’re as good as Grimes btw.

If you don’t think those two are viable backups to a player with an exemplary injury record, how much do you think we should spend on a better backup? And are we ok with them sitting on the bench this season and taking up a squad place next year?

I’d be ok with a very good loan or a player or an experienced player on a short term contract …. I don’t think it has to be a permanent signing.

Another test but we keep producing the results. Nothing to fear if we play to our best and another win puts us in an exceptionally strong position .
What a time to be a City fan .

Not sure how I’ve made up a stat that’s available on the internet for you to verify. I literally said Torp has availability issues, as does Rudi as does Eccles hence us recently playing BTA and Allen in midfield. I swear sometimes on this site people just say shit. We’ve been talking about lack of depth in CM for months but today you’ve decided it’s all invented to annoy you. I’m done.
Listening to one of the pods they were saying something similar about not needing back up for midfield or attacking mid and I was thinking we probably do we’re an experienced first teamer short in there

Sod it after 18 min of this match I now believe it doesn't matter who slots in they become a footballing god. I love Simms but didn't think he had that up his sleeve 😍

(Still think 3-4 will come in)

Is Hamer going to come begging in January, or sweat it out at the Blunts and wait until the summer?

I'd be amazed if that many came in , 1/2 maybe .

Can't see more than 2 either

For me that is so risky. I really don't see any other play than bolstering the squad in Jan. Yes we have big lead but we need to press that home. We are screwed if Dasilva or Grimes gets an injury and for me we 100% need backup for Tats and EMC. Even if it's loan prospects. Just someone to be there to let them have a breather after 60 or cover them in cup games or if we are cruising.

Surely allowing a youth prospect that would be in the reserves otherwise a chance to try and prove their worth trumps any need for guaranteed playing time. I think we hold more cards nowadays.

Tats is constantly targeted and it's just chance he's not been caught worse. EMC hasn't got the best record for staying fit and BTA could be out now. We are so thin squad wise I'm baffled people can see we have got incredibly lucky that when someone gets injured that players some had written off have stepped up.

Ideal window for me is 2 wingers and a LB that is closer to Dasilvas play style in on loan

It's going to be difficult but set the scouting team to scour Europe for a young DM with at least some of the traits Grimes has. Get them in and let them learn from the master.

I think we should be looking at January as a way to sign and establish at least three players ready for the start of the next premier league season. The alternative (if we do go up) is we have to sign 7-8 players in the summer and try and get them all gelled and integrated with no competitive games and with the premier league circus in full swing. Maybe we get lucky and do a forest and stay up that way, but we’re much more likely to get thumped and come back down.

I’d be looking at the following:

1. Go back to Brighton with another bid for Rushworth, and if we can’t get it done, sign a more experienced number one for Dovin to be #2 behind.
2. A left-back to compete with Da Silva for the spot with the expectation that Bidwell and MAB leave in the summer.
3. A winger who can play on both sides.
4. A horrible bastard spoiler of a defensive midfielder who can sit alongside Grimes when we don’t have the luxury of being able to play two progressive central midfielders in front of him, or for if the guy ever gets injured or has an off day.

Isn't this exactly Bamford was?
As for the other stuff we should be trying out young Andrew's to see out game's more if it's possible.

Neither did he! He had a second similar chance just after the first goal but his touch let him down

Don’t be surprised to see City try to sign Hayden Hackney if we go up this season.

After the last 2 matches Frank has made a bee line to speak to him on the pitch.

We can try, but he'll be going to someone much better than us I would imagine.

He's already been linked with Spurs and Newcastle amongst others.

I can't think of many SPL signings but John Fleck was a quality signing. Michael Rose was a good signing at the time. We had that random CB that Pressley signed but never played. Think his name was Urquhart or similar.
I'm sure there are more but I'm forgetting them.
1/3 isn't a bad miss rate
We signed Andy Webster under Pressley, he wasn't great though wasn't terrible
