I refer the honourable gentleman to the 'Grallen' midfield we had to resort to for a number of games recently. Morris is one of the best players for what he does in the division besides...Grimes.Why would he come to us to sit on the bench, waiting for a player who plays every minute of every game to get injured?
I'd take Hamer as despite my disagreement with my friend above who may or may not be related to him, I actually think he's good for 20 min cameos in the Prem, even if existing Prem managers don't seem to think so.To be clear, having Hamer and O'Hare as squad players and possibly McCallum too would show how far this team has come, but they're all strong options in this league for their respective positions.

Absolutely agree, with the proviso that we are currently in the second tier and The PL has got exponentially better since 1980.Ruling out one of the most complete midfielders I have ever seen in a City shirt since 1980 seems premature to me. Grimes is absolute class and the first name on the team sheet this season and next.

I know, I'm not sure where I've said we can't? If we got promoted we'd need loads of new players. We also have a handful of players that could and indeed might have to, step up.And it’s OK to be rational about players abilities and not just claim every player we have is the greatest ever. Our team can always get better and that’s no shade on those already in it.

Ipswich went down the road of buying all the best Championship players. Clearly, not a template to follow. They went for quantity over quality.Completely overhauling a team that got promotion seems to be working for Sunderland as it did for Forest before them, but as I mentioned previously both needed to do so having only been promoted via the play offs, and so had a weaker starting position than those promoted automatically.
It doesn't always work though. Ipswich previously had a similar team ethic that we seem to have this season and spent big in the PL, but having then been relegated and despite having a very strong squad on paper, are struggling to find that togetherness they previously had.

I don’t think we lost control yesterday.Exactly this it’s a long season and a squad game. You want to be able to take players off and not lose control like we did yesterday. And have everyone fresh for the run in. Plus frankly not throw every cup game.

In cases where we have three games in a week, being able to play someone nearer to Torp's ability as opposed to Jamie Allen's would be a clear advantage. The games where it's been just Grimes and Allen in the middle have been real hard work because it's just not Allen's game and especially not from the start.We have loads of capable CMs in case we get an injury (and we’ve already had many).
If we get in a PL-calibre CM even on loan then they will expect to play every week - we’re not dropping Grimes, so does Torp get benched? I just don’t see it.
