Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window (9 Viewers)

I think it will be a tricky window.

We won’t want to be offering 3 yr deals to players that the club don’t think can step up to the Premier league, equally we can’t offer prem quality players long term deals as we are not certain we will go up and therefore fund their package …. I think we might see a few loans and 1-2 per signings of players we think can make the transition ….

We're not going to be signing 5 players...

Dependant on injuries, I can't really see more than a couple coming in. Maybe 3 at a push.

I think realistically Grimes is likely to play every game. Torp and Rudoni aren’t. Same for Saka and EMC. KKH can cover both sides if needed. So you need bare minimum a KKH for the wings and a forward minded CM IMO.

I don't even think that's bare minimum, at this stage that's all that we really need.

It's a false economy to flood a settled and well performing side with a load of players half way through a season.

A couple of new additions should be more than ample to see us through to the end of the campaign.

Got be be mindful whoever we bring in has good attitude! Doesn't take a c**t too long to fuck the atmosphere and togetherness asunder.

If Leeds go down and we go up I would love us to go get that Tanaka, such a class player.

He’s started 4 games and averaged 6.1 this season.

He’s evidence we should look for a succession plan this season for Grimes as he was the best player in the league last year and can’t get a kick this

Good point about grimes, do think the first 2 signings if we go up will be hughes and rushworth almost straight away! With hughes palace will be sniffing around though so will need to act quick

Grimes is so crucial to how we play I would be very surprised if we go up, for FL to at least not start the season with him and see if he can be impactful in the PL.

Possibly, but if we go up we will need to be careful about how we break up a successful team.
Only Milan, Sakamoto Emc and Torp I can see being starters, it’s just the way football goes. Successful or not the prem is on another level, it’s sad but I guess it’s football! Would like to think Bobby and kitch could be starting too but who knows

edit - Rudoni starts of course

Yes Grimes physicality be an issue.

I could see Rushworth, MVE, Thomas, Rudoni and possibly Wright being the only players who start in the lrem

Sunderland have done that exact thing. Only 2 starters left in the 11
I don't think we will. I think FL would add 5 or 6, keep the group together and see where it takes us.

Only 5 or 6? Not a chance will be more like 9/10 with a lot going out! Will be signing proven players then players with potential

You think we'll be spending over 100 mill then?

Xhaka was the crucial signing for them, and without him they would probably be in the bottom 3 regardless of the other signings. Even now they could yet go on a long losing run and slide back into trouble, although they have clearly given themselves a great shot at staying up. Their team that made it up was plainly not good enough, and they rode their luck to make it. If we carry on as we are and go up as Champions, by definition the team that would have achieved that would be stronger than the Sunderland one which made it through the play offs, and as such ought not to need as much tweaking as theirs did.

Ruling out one of the most complete midfielders I have ever seen in a City shirt since 1980 seems premature to me. Grimes is absolute class and the first name on the team sheet this season and next.
most complete? except the fact he doesn’t score or have any pace. Torp is more complete than him

Nobody is ruling him out or saying anything bad about him, it’s just the pace of the premier league could be an issue. He’s my favourite cov player

No chance we will be spending that big, but there will be plenty of PL fringe players coming out of contract, or in their last year that will be available within our budget.
And we will no doubt be looking at European league players as well.

Frank will still need to perform a miracle to keep us up, presuming we get there of course.

Completely overhauling a team that got promotion seems to be working for Sunderland as it did for Forest before them, but as I mentioned previously both needed to do so having only been promoted via the play offs, and so had a weaker starting position than those promoted automatically.

It doesn't always work though. Ipswich previously had a similar team ethic that we seem to have this season and spent big in the PL, but having then been relegated and despite having a very strong squad on paper, are struggling to find that togetherness they previously had.
