This place is wild. No significant out goings, we (might) have upgraded our keeper until Dovin is back, seemingly upgraded at centre half, got back up at right back and shifted Bassette out on loan. 3 hours to go, Doug might have something up his sleeve yet, not been a bad window!

Roberts? if you want your winger to do nothing and then fall over

Still a better option than Raphael and BTA who's currently playing RW for me.

What time does the transfer window close, I thought it was 7 UK time?

Literally went to make a sandwich and do a few work emails, and this thread has gained 8 pages and the bed has been pissed.

That's not to say I may or may not join in a few hours time!

you’re usually a pretty reasonable poster but you’re absolutely pissing your pants today aren’t you

we’ve kept MVE and signed a solid centre back. Only curveball is sheaf going but to be honest he’s looked pretty average at best for a season or so now. Ideally additional CM cover but other then that think we’re in good shape
But we haven't signed a solid CB...... unless I missed the press release? Or are we taking word on here of a signing as gospel now?

Im not pissingmy pants but am totally frustrated yes.

Everyone at the end of last year was under the consensus we neededbetter than Allen, and most in their ideal window wanted Eccles out to upgrade on. Now they are integral to our cover in CM, a position where Torp is prone to breaking down and where we will need to rotate.

We play a formation with wingers and only have 2 experienced wingers in the squad.

Most wanted one of Simms or BTA out and we've got rid of neither

Most wanted Da Silva as backup and Bidwell out and neither have happened.

Its been a ponderous window to be honest.

Generational level bedwetting this is. Would you rather we overpay or break our wage structure just to sign a few players?

Compared to 12 months ago, I'd say yes. Players are settled. The likes of Bidwell, Allen and Eccles have been phased out. Those three played a decent amount of minutes last September. We have Grimes.

It's a difficult balance to strike. We could have gone down the 2023 route by selling Rudi and MVE and gambling on £35m worth of talent.

You aren't guaranteed quality when spending millions, as we've seen in the past 12 months.

If by “phased out” you mean “currently the entirety of our central defensive and midfield cover.”

And that’s fine but it’s again just irresponsible where we are in letting sheaf go with no one lined up on deadline day. Woolf is a great signing but how can we seriously think we can last the season with only one LW in EMC, One 10 in Rudoni and four senior CMs
I hate this expresion but "there's no magic money tree". The other big limitation is the wage bill as we have to control our operating losses.

Yeah, they've gone from starting to being on the bench behind far superior players like Grimes and Torp!

Can I just say the absolute upmost respect to Doug for acquiring the ground truly magnificent

but on the pitch I honestly believe we’ll regress in amount of points and league position

There’s not enough depth to mount a serious promotion push; that’s just a fact and frank will know that

The word "Depth" is banded around like we are playing in Europe. We are out of the league cup. We have the league to focus on and to a lesser extent the FA Cup. If our squad cant manage that then I'd argue that we aren't ready for the prem anyway

Nobody is asking for a huge overhaul. Just a better squad and a more solid defence. A huge overhaul isnt needed, and not what ANYONE on this thread is asking for. But when a serious injury to Rudoni leaves us up shit creek, its ok as we bought in 1 CH on deadline day. That'll work!

Truth be told we probably won't be getting what you desire so probably best to get the tissues ready now

Again don’t mind as can see we have to let players go to buy them, but we have let a few go now with wages being covered. Surely we could of at least lined up some loans to back up key positions with the promise they would get minutes

Has it? You’ve got Grimes, Torp, Eccles and Allen.

Grimes has missed a handful of games in the last 6-7 seasons. So there’s only the necessity to have a backup plan for Torp/Eccles.

It’s mental that people will say we need 5 first team CMs and look at positions like AM and RW/LW and conclude that we’re ok.
id say so, sheafs way ahead of Eccles and Allen, Eccles is still out so that leaves us just Allen? sheaf needs replacing

No I just have a basic grasp of football finances and how the club operates under a tight budget. Chuck in a £40m stadium purchase and it's no surprise we're not splashing the cash on big transfers.

Be grateful we are where we are.

What's the point in getting frustrated now? Yes, we need 3 in. Just because there's no links online, doesn't mean we aren't in talks. We've been after Godo, so we're clearly after a winger. We've sold Sheaf, so we clearly need a CM. Start all the moaning at 7pm

Crazy world! Imagine being called a bed wetter for actually wanting to see your team improve on last season! Rather than just stand still in the championship!

Oh well, better get them sheets stripped and in the wash!

Been clear Godo has been off to Strasbourg for a few days, so hopefully been working on alternatives in the meantime.

From what I can gather , youd be happy with a CM and a CB .

Is that correct

Realistically, As it stands we’re weaker in defence, weaker in midfield and a striker down. For some reason people now think that a 46 game season is determined by a “starting team” odd.

Once Woolfenden is announced it’s one of the best windows we’ve had. Retaining every player that we would be weakened by losing. Wright, Saka, Rudoni and MVE.

We were one injury away from Ryan Howley and Liam Kelly being the lynchpin.

In fact, Howley was the lynchpin at one time because of an injury to Sheaf!

Godo to join Strasbourg despite Coventry interest

Latest from Sky Sports News' James Cole:
Martial Godo is set to join Strasbourg from Fulham in a permanent deal.
The deal is understood to be worth in the region of £6m.
The 22-year-old winger had been the subject of strong interest from Coventry this summer.

If that’s us done then I wouldn’t be suprised, king said himself if we can’t find the right player then at least we own the ground, and that squad is more than capable of at least top 6 just would of liked a couple more to give us a better chance in the play offs, there’s still January if we need something
