Seems I'm in the minority but I wouldn't be selling Sheaf this close to the deadline.
I really wouldnt either.

Unless its the turning point in the hughes deal i really dont think its wise.

Never kicked a football in a professional game and never even had a loan out. It’s a massive risk and stinks ofa cheap option. Concerning.

Oh I agree; he’d need a long settling in period and you run the risk of him being another Ayari, in which case it’s a waste of a loan fee and you have no good backup option for a 30+ centre mid.

I don’t think it’s the choice of it being a “cheap option” - it seems we have the money; more the right time to move on an out of form and injury prone player (he will probably be great for Wrexham now I’ve said that!).

If we’re talking about risks though, 12 million quid on Hughes…

Been travelling/awake for 24 hrs.
Had a couple of hours kip and wake up to this.

Again, wouldn't be massively comfortable with this - would this leave us light in midfield!? (although Eccles to come back - and Lati - but dip in actual quality)

Can see us using cash to go back in for Hughes - which again, 10-12 mil is huge for us.

Would be pretty mental if that happened last day. Leaves us pretty short in CM. If they offer us £10m though cant turn that down.

Window going pretty pearshaped
I don't think Wrexham bidding on a crock = pear-shaped at all really.
Last chance to get a good price on him if those idiots are in.
Lucky to get half of that £10m though.

Andrews and Sheaf off giving us the depth of

Grimes, Torp, Rudoni, Allen, Eccles

who can cover those CM positions. Even with a Chelsea infant on loan its looking incredibly thin.

Ben Sheaf has become such a dilemma for us. Great player when he’s fit, but hes got such bad injury problems and probably isn’t a starter anymore

Added into the fact he’s captain, which I don’t think he ever should have been, but it’s harsh to strip it from him

Feel like the club could get some decent money from Wrexham at this stage in the window too

Can’t use the money this window though really

Sheaf is a quality player. Problem is he’s fragile and injuries set him back, even when he returns fit he still needs 2/3 games to get him back into the swing of things which is understandable. In those games we often saw him giving the ball away with sloppy passes or decision making errors. Good player if he stays fit. I’d be sad to see him go but if the fee is there it suits. Our starting midfield is top notch for the league, we don’t really have a player that can come on sub and change the game or offering something different. Need to have faces in now with the deadline approaching.

Sheaf is another that I think has probably reached his ceiling and we are looking to go beyond that, so im not opposed to this at all but its a risk this late in the window to be flogging someone who has been one of our best in recent years regardless of his more recent issues.

Exactly, and only Grimes of those is a capable holding midfielder.

So if he were to be out (and thankfully he seems pretty bomb proof) we're in big trouble.
