I’ll judge him when he plays for us, but I don’t like their fans saying he’s not very good at defending set pieces when we are already hopeless at itbut he played nearly every game the season they got promoted , he’s a quality championship centre half with prem experience, if your unhappy about a signing like that then ?
His stats show he’s decent on the ball but average defensively. I get that both come at a premium but I don’t see him doing a great deal to change our defensive problems.I'm not sure about Woolfenden at all. I think it's always a risk bringing in a player who has only ever played at one club for such a large proportion of his career, especially when that club seemingly had a massive level of overperformance more than the sum of it's parts in that time. Just hope we're not falling into a bit of a trap of 'well he's got promoted out of this league before, he must be a top centre back at this level'.
Ultimately though time will tell and I'll certainly give him more than 4 games () before making any sort of judgement.
