If newcastle come calling, as is rumoured, then there is probably very little we can do. He will want to move and they will offer enough for us to accept.

Us to accept “agree” but ffs Lon a massive price on him and if someone like Newcastle comes knocking, make them pay top dollar so we can invest in 2-3 good signings

That isn’t out the football pyramid works …:

I doubt AfC Wimbledon fans or Huddersfield fans wanted to see him leave but he did …..

Only 2 things matter now in football transfers … money and player power.

At AFC Wimbledon and Huddersfield he weren't hit the number he is now, he wasn't affecting games for them, the player he is now wasn't showing itself but under Lampard he's brought that out of Rudi this is why we must do all we can to keep him then add around him and go one step further next year mate.

If its not enough then fair dos we'd have to move on but, I think hell stay another year at least

He'd cost at least Vik money being English at his age and position.

With that we built an entire squad so I'm sure we could pull off more than 2-3 of really good quality.

I’d love to see him stay another year BUT if a large premier league club offer £20m+ and Rudi wants to go,the transfer will happen ….

I know what your saying, unfortunately this is what happens and can happen when your not a prem club however Sargent has been linked with a move every window but Norwich has still hung onto him, let's hope we do the same with Rudi

Sargents awful injury record is the reason he is still at Norwich not anything else …. Norwich sell their best players too

Bassette was watched by Newcastle this year, sheaf been watched for 18 months on off.

no big deal.

Of course if £25m+ comes on table it’s no brainer.

I agree we should get the most we can but lets be honest most premier teams can afford what we want easily.

Rudoni isn't going this window. No chance. Teams aren't going to pay 20m+ off the back of a great 6 months. They might try and lowball us but I believe Doug has the sense to see Rudis stock is rising and the value to us is massive on the pitch. Now isn't the time to cash in. Another season of that and he's easily hitting those values.

Also where else is he going to go and be the star whilst at the same time getting 1on1 tuition from his boyhood hero.? he'll see how much Lampard has improved his game, no need to chuck that away at the first opportunity.

He's not going yet relax

Spot on. He has been a joy to watch this year and along with Grimes, I would say is the main reason we made the play offs, but he still has a fair way to go in his development. I would be shocked if someone was to pay us 20-25 mill for him given the calibre of player that could be brought in from the continent with that type of money.

Intensely relaxed about interest in our players. We have faith that we will get decent money and not sell up at the first sniff and faith we can sign decent players.

Quite nice isn't it. Under SISU it was just torture because you just knew that not only were you losing one of your best players, you'd never be seeing the money again.

All the lower-mid table teams in the Premier League have established themselves based on good transfer dealings and positive recruitment.
If we are to get to that position in the next 5-10 years then we have to continue to trust in our own model and process

I think we've proved we can sign decent players, and have scouts/analysts looking at leagues all over the world.

I trust them to sign good replacements if a 1st teamer leaves.

Why I'm not worried about losing Wright/MvE - if anything this summer is the optimal time to sell with 2 years left (neither will sign a new contract unless we're promoted)

Next season we'll likely be forced to sell for less

Agreed but we aren't there yet. The most stable and well run clubs (Brighton & Brentford) have succession plans for each player, meaning when a player leaves they already have an understudy primed, tested and ready to slot in.. we on the other hand ran MvE into the ground with zero cover. We really need to sort that this summer across the squad, players of similar profile as back up so we don't have to change the whole game plan to cover an injury.

Whilst it's quiet, I'll put my 2 pence in....

I've seen calls for a 'complete clear out' and a new front line. Looking at the stats, only 3 other teams have scored more goals than us, defensively however we have conceded more than Hull (who only survived on GD). If you look deeper into the stats we leak from A) errors B) down the left hand side, in particular balls in behind/over the top. The main difference between us and the top 3 that ran away with it, is keeping it defensively tight. Squad wise, I'd be trying to retain as many players as possible, of course every player has a price but I'd keep the majority. We have a small squad and FL has commented on this a few times, I'm sure he will want to strengthen.

Key positions for me... (I've put a few names in but it's more the position I'd be after and trust the Cov model we opt for (lower league, younger with potential)

GK: Needs to be a classy loan signing for me, Dovin has quality and we've invested in him, has a long term future post injury so no need for permanent move. Won't be available until January and then it will take time to get back to full speed/confidence. I'd highly doubt it but a player such as Kinsky from Spurs, solid save percentage, confident and vocal, unlikely to play ahead of their number 1 and still wanting game time. For me that's a crucial position. Again not saying it needs to be him just a player of similar ilk, needs to be a top loan.

LB: Seems like Brau is coming. Not familiar with him but let's hope he's of a good standard. Kesler-Hayden another name bounding around can also play here (fingers crossed MVE stays).

CB: I like Thomas and Kitching and if they can clean up from defensive errors we'd be okay. That said I'd be looking to bring in a player of quality (Dunne is a free, Jack Stephens also - he's not had a great season but Premier league experience and was solid for Southampton for the year in the championship).

Forwards: Happy with our starting options, what I do think we need to bring in is variety, we play a possession based pragmatic approach and if the likes of Sakamoto isn't working and defensively they've got it locked down, then we need a different profile player to come on, perhaps a stronger faster more direct option (something all the top teams have in their locker). We had games during the season where we held 65% possession, dominating the game but have no outlet. I know I'll get slated for it but Bundu (again on a free) is a player that could give us options on how we progress the ball/be more direct. Stats wise it gives us options (can play RW, LW, ST - much more direct, yes not the typical profile we go for but I do think it would work. I'd also like to see another attacking midfielder that's again a bit more direct and tricky, just to give us some options to flip the game on it's head.

Brighton also have on radar - think it’s genuine. There is raw material there, I think alot of it will be down to player himself how much it’s realised……. Noises of bad attitude/application
of late in training

Apologies if mentioned already but I think it may actually make some sense financially to hold onto Wright for another year. Seem to recall that one of the extra payments to Antalyaspor falls away after this summer.

He’s a young lad, playing out of his country, and getting very few minutes on the pitch …. I’d be amazed if his motivation didn’t flag a bit. Any one who has a son of a similar age would totally understand that too.

The key is for Frank to judge whether he needs a loan to continue his progression or whether he thinks he will be that impact sub who will get enough minutes to keep him happy and progressing.

If Newcastle come in for Rudi ask for 35m and accept anything 25m+ he could be the difference between going up or not but we cant exactly ask for 100m for a player in the championship

Normally I would agree, but that article came from Craig Hope - the most clued in Newcastle reporter going who has multiple links inside the club.

He's not the type of guy to rely on agent whispers to get Newcastle info. He doesn't need to.

Yep, or even £25m with add ons “appearances & international call up”. Or we could hire Barry Fry as a consultant for a month and get £30m for him.

The planet where I want to keep Rudoni, Im not saying we can get that for him Im saying thats what I’d ask to price them out but if they are dumb enough to pay 25m+ which they wont take it. Promotion to the prem wins you 100m and Rudi can be the difference between getting there and not
