He might not be, but if we were to sell him, it would have to be for a greatly inflated fee.I think Rudi is a good player but anyone who thinks he’s worth £25m needs a reality check
Yes but on the flip side - we can’t price ourselves out of selling our players otherwise our whole setup doesn’t work. It’s easy to say, keep him for a year and he’ll be worth the same next summer - but we’ve seen examples of that not being the case (Sheaf/Simms).He might not be, but if we were to sell him, it would have to be for a greatly inflated fee.
That's the point. You don't sell at true value when you aren't looking to sell.
It assumes the value was actually there for Simms and Sheaf in the summer of 2024. There were tenuous links but as far as we know, nothing materialised.Yes but on the flip side - we can’t price ourselves out of selling our players otherwise our whole setup doesn’t work. It would never have been the intention to sell Rudoni after a single season.Yes but on the flip side - we can’t price ourselves out of selling our players otherwise our whole setup doesn’t work.
Why have the sun, telegraph or daily mail not been banned from the CBS for reporting transfer news then?People *really* need to relax on AT. He arguably has the tightest access there is to the clubs transfers. If he wants to keep getting access, he's not going to do anything to compromise the trust and relationship with the club - and even potentially transfers themselves.
As soon as other media report stuff its fair game! But he is not going to be breaking any stories in that way.
The fact DK wants leaks shut down reinforces that imperative. AT would be a moron if he did anything but.

I doubt there is any desire or requirement to sell him at the moment, therefore, it would take silly money to get him.
The model might revolve around selling players for a profit, but it will always be selling them on our terms.
We went backwards the year after selling Vik and HamerI want to remind people of when Brentford were in the Championship. They got close to going up and then when they didn’t they sold Ollie Watkins, following year same thing happened and they sold Saïd Benrahma. Even with selling those players, it lead them to buying Ivan Toney, it lead to them strengthening their team overall. So when they went up they didn’t just have two stars, they had a super solid team.
I am sure there would have been panic moments from their fans probably thinking the same as we are that we can’t sell our best players if we want to go up but they did it, and even after losing Gyokeres and Hamer we still then went to an FA Cup Semi Final and also a playoff semi final.
Sell our best, build your foundations.
If that means we sell Rudoni and MVE then so be it, hopefully we will be stronger overall from it by having more to spend elsewhere.

Really though, what "Access" does Turner get apart from press conferences? His last exclusive interview was with Viveash in early 2024.that was not the point he was making at all

What research?Because none of them depend on the relationship to generate news. If Cov disappeared tomorrow, they'd give zero fucks.
For the CovTel and AT, that would be massive. AT publishes transfer news at the exact same time the club does when it happens.
That's not some little press release sent at 1 minute to the hour. That's based on a relationship with the club where they trust him to tell him the impending transfer context, give him enough time to research and write up his release, then to publish it as soon as it becomes news.
So we went backwardsWe got to an FA Cup semi final and realistically should have got to the final.
Our form deteriorated when we started focusing on the Cup and not the league, we were doing well until then. We still finished 9th

And no journalist has ever been banned from a stadium or pressers for reporting transfer news. So I don't buy that explanation at all.
That happens all the time. Every single club sends out a heads up to relevant journos that they're about to announce a new signing. You typically get 15-30 mins to prepare your story.Because none of them depend on the relationship to generate news. If Cov disappeared tomorrow, they'd give zero fucks.

no one is talking about anyone getting banned
Last paragraph lkey. If we are having to make a sale to fund replacements and can’t afford to get them in before that’s concerningWe know this forum is prone to a bed wetting, but losing Rudoni at this stage likely justifies it.
Even with £20M, we have only a few weeks to identify and sign players, while trying to fill the creative gap he’d leave with Jamie Allen?
If we had a list ready, we’d have acted by now. And if we haven’t because we’re waiting for a big sale, then that is not reassuring re this rumour.

I have a Southampton supporting mate who has told me they are aiming to have Rudoni done by the weekend and that we are looking to take Smallbone as a seperate deal
Naturally I told him to fuck off as he’s never been itk before but thought I’d pass it on
Rumour about them wanting Rudoni being done by the end of the week comes from a it’s on southamptons forum. Nothing on SmallboneI have a Southampton supporting mate who has told me they are aiming to have Rudoni done by the weekend and that we are looking to take Smallbone as a seperate deal

Don't pipe up about things you know nothing about then fellaI really don't care enough about this to argue with anyone about it.
Why would we want Downes. He’s not an attacking midfielder is he?Would much rather Shea Charles or Flynn Downes. Would also like Ronnie Edwards

Im sure we paid less than that for him.Replacement! Now who would that be, it would cost us more than 20 million to replace Rudoni.
because he loses his inside sources and like every other journalist just get the press releasesIf the club aren't going to ban him, then what is the detriment to Turner posting transfer exclusives?
I'm sure his bosses would be delighted with the increased clicks and ad revenue his articles would accrue.
Or is the real answer that he just can't be arsed to build the necessary relationships.

The worst part is, half the forum will be applauding Doug for selling the squad’s prize asset to another Championship team on the cheap. We know this forum is prone to a bed wetting, but losing Rudoni at this stage likely justifies it.

Just What the Southampton lot are saying, didn’t the mail also reference a 48 hour period?we're not going to sell him by the end of this week

Happy to part with him for a silly amount. £20 million isn’t that. It’s also risk averse to turn down a silly amount of money because you’re worried that a bunch of guys wearing Rudoni pyjamas on the Facebook forum might be upset about it for a bit.
Or because you don’t trust the people you’ve hired to identify players you can sign, develop and sell for a profit to do the same job again.
