Last paragraph lkey. If we are having to make a sale to fund replacements and can’t afford to get them in before that’s concerning
No, its fucking reality.

I know you want Doug to have an extra £30mil lying around spare but that probably isn't the case. We dont have a billionaire owner but we have financial stability (which alone is still dreamland with Northampton in the rearview mirror) and are competing at the business end of the champ.

Whinge about it all you want, and christ knows you do, if we bought players for £20mil, then a Rudi sale fell through for any reason, it could be a total financial nightmare and derail the rest of the decade, let alone one season.

But if you've got some savings, a buddy with £20mil to put in the kitty or know an oil baron who wants to buy the club off Doug then lets go for gold. (y)

Answer me this then, if its outside the realms of possibility, why have we done it with KKH when we havent got a buyer for MVE

This is like a house purchase chain. We can look at houses but can't progress until we sold our own, and then no matter how hard you try thereafter it usually takes 3 months to complete (I've done a few).

Ever since it was obvious he had potential to go higher, Rudoni was a 'flight risk' . But even if we have identified one or more players to take his slot as an AM, we can't start talking until we have sold our own 'house' and the people we hope to buy from will also want a replacement (if who we are targeting is any good). It's like a house purchase chain and for 'legals' read 'agents'.

Result?
1. It may already be too late to get a good replacement should Jack be sold.
2. Therefore City are heavily incentivized to charge top dollar - £20 m surely
3. Torp takes the slot if we fail to find a suitable.

For myself Saints would be a bad career move. They are a yo-yo club right now so barely a notch above us. He would want a mid table Premiership, or else what's the point? See Hamer. Three seasons since leaving, two in this league, one anchored to the bottom of the Prem.

People *really* need to relax on AT. He arguably has the tightest access there is to the clubs transfers. If he wants to keep getting access, he's not going to do anything to compromise the trust and relationship with the club - and even potentially transfers themselves.

As soon as other media report stuff its fair game! But he is not going to be breaking any stories in that way.

The fact DK wants leaks shut down reinforces that imperative. AT would be a moron if he did anything but.
Oh to go back to a time when the only real source for CCFC news was the printed Cov Tel, it was a usually just a few precious paragraphs a day and it was all reliable info arising out of their trusted relationship with the club. No disrespect to anyone, but feeling powerless to avoid consuming a daily barrage of online opinion and speculation is way more stressful 😂.

he's not that good, most Saints fans want shot of him

Last time in the championship, some good attacking numbers there, spent last season out mainly injured I’d 100% take him even if we didnt sell Rudoni as a handy option to drive the ball forward in midfield, although it would probably make a lightweight midfield with him and Grimes

Good window would be CB signing, Lats, Eccles, Sheaf back fit.

Obikwu L1 Loan, Perry L2 Loan, Yern and Batanwi N1 Loan.

Try to move on Norm and Collins fee or Loan.

Keep everyone else. Shut window and get on with the coaches and FL putting us in in the top 6 by Jan to go again at strengthening the squad.

I want to remind people of when Brentford were in the Championship. They got close to going up and then when they didn’t they sold Ollie Watkins, following year same thing happened and they sold Saïd Benrahma. Even with selling those players, it lead them to buying Ivan Toney, it lead to them strengthening their team overall. So when they went up they didn’t just have two stars, they had a super solid team.
I am sure there would have been panic moments from their fans probably thinking the same as we are that we can’t sell our best players if we want to go up but they did it, and even after losing Gyokeres and Hamer we still then went to an FA Cup Semi Final and also a playoff semi final.
Sell our best, build your foundations.

If that means we sell Rudoni and MVE then so be it, hopefully we will be stronger overall from it by having more to spend elsewhere.

Ivan Toney had signed for Brentford BEFORE they sold Watkins

They loaned Benrahma to West Ham initially with an agreed permanent transfer, they had already signed Mbuemo BEFORE they did this.

Watkins was sold to the premier league
Benrahma was sold to the premier league

I think the general consensus here is that if a premier league clubs comes in and offers big money for Rudoni, begrudgingly thats understandable, but not someone in the same league.
You simply dont strengthen your rivals by choice, some would argue we’re competing for the same spots in the league table.

I once seen Bob play an organ with a piece of string hanging from it with a popadum attached. He was asking Vic what noise the popadam made once he hit a note......

Brilliant ....... Oh sorry i am posting fuck all to do with the club again ....

You've sidestepped the whole point.
Do you own a car? Well why haven't you bought 4 more cars in case you sell the first?

Its cashflow. If the club had the cash spare to buy replacements for Rudi AND the recruitment team were confident they had a suitable target, then I'm sure they would be trying. Bear in mind you can't always just point at a player and say I'll have that one please, as if you're choosing rabbits in petsathome.

Genuine question, and you're entitled to your own opinion on this which I won't judge either way, would you rather:
- The club take on debt which can be a long term risk, (assuming DK doesnt have £10-30mil cash available), and spend big right now to have a balls to the wall run at promotion this season knowing from experience what can happen if we fail to go up.
- Continue with the current approach, sell players like Vik, Hamer, Rudi if large bids come in. Hopefully still be competing for playoff spots, less likely to go up but more to remain stable with lower financial risk.

We aren't going to sign Rudoni's replacement for £10m-£30m. Itwill be likely £5m or less.

Well…. It does.. imagine we signed a replacement midfielder today, then Rudoni breaks his leg at the weekend.
Imagine we sell Rudoni and fail numerous attempts to sign players and go into the rest of the season with no replacements lime we did with Hamer? I’d rather the Gyokeres way when we had Simms already in guaranteed before he left

Because none of them depend on the relationship to generate news. If Cov disappeared tomorrow, they'd give zero fucks.

For the CovTel and AT, that would be massive. AT publishes transfer news at the exact same time the club does when it happens.

That's not some little press release sent at 1 minute to the hour. That's based on a relationship with the club where they trust him to tell him the impending transfer context, give him enough time to research and write up his release, then to publish it as soon as it becomes news.

Not sure that's journalism, that's copy and pasting and PR.
