Oh, that old joke, wasn't funny the first 600 times it was recycled!
A football fan, having an opinion on a football fans forum...... he thinks he's on fifa, hardyhardyha! Bore off!

What I've stated there is a realistic transfer window for any new manager building a new squad. Ive also given realistic figures for a good, great and perfect window. What's Football Manager about that? Or did you read that joke somewhere once on another thread and found it amusing and have been waiting for an opportunity to recycle it?? Really funny.

In MR first summer window as Stoke manager he's seen 11 players leave and8 come in! Can't believe he thinks he can be a manager after playing FM2024! How cowboy of him!

In what way was it realistic? More than happy to debate with you but clearly you are delusional so it could be a challenge

Football manager hahaha, mate it’s called having ambition and wanting us to improve the squad. You’ll be happy when we don’t make anymore signings and keep what we’ve got

Ok if i really must engage with you again... you want to to sign 20 players every summer. when we get linked with anyone you say they look shit. You mistake ambition with delusion. Ive asked multiple times how we fund all this dream list yet you cant answer.

We'll definitely sign a CB and probably a forward of some sort before the window ends.

Genuinely, read my post again PROPERLY. Or get your missus to read it if you're struggling.
Ive said a GOOD window will see a CH and a ST in. Fuck all unrealistic about that!

2 fucking players, if were serious about contending, which all the noise coming out the club says we are, surely at minimum we can bring in 2 players????

Not quite sure how I can be so unrealistic. Gotta go anyway, love to stay and chat but its Coventry v PSG in the Champions League Final on Football Manager and CR7 will have a tantrum if Messi is in the starting line up and he's not so gotta go and sort out the tactics! Toodles!

And by my original post, add that to the 3 we've signed and keeping hold of Rudi i'd class that as a good window. And completely realistic. But maybe ive spent too long on the PlayStation to grasp reality?

And, yes, I agree. Good window as long as we don't have any unexpected outgoings.

If we turn up to the CBS vs Norwich and this is the squad - then you have every right to have a bit of a moan.

Before that point, we have 3x league games to get through with the same squad (+ a better keeper and full back depth including a standout player in the division last year) that have won the most points of any current Championship team in 2025. I think we’re ok.

Kept our best players SO FAR! Thing is, all the rumours circulating are we're bidding on players and failing. Add to that the almost certain exit of MVE, or MVExit as it should be called, and it really has been a poor off season. I fully expect MVE to go on the last day, giving us no time to replace or use the cash to bring anyone else in.
A good window will see us bring in another CH and a striker at minimum.
An amazing window would see 2xCH, a striker and RB understudy for KKH (based on MVExit).
A perfect window will see Collins, Lati, BTA, Bidwell, and Simms out, 2xCH, RB, LW, Striker, CM.

This was my original post.
A good, an amazing, and a perfect window.
I'm well aware the amazing and the perfect options and dreamers land.... but in reality, probably what is needed.

However, add a striker and a CH to the 3 we've signed AND keep hold of Rudi and Hadji, I'd say that's a pretty good window.

I think we'll lose MVE. Whether now or in January, I think its only a matter of time. But I think KKH will be better anyway. If and when we do lose MVE, a RB understudy for KKH would be nice. But as it stands, not needed.

Do think we have a playoff capable squad as it is, but if we want to make the next step we need a couple more. Think the league is more competitive this year though, maybe with top 2 or 3 not quite as good as last year.

I’m not so sure. I don’t think we’ve made any progress from last year. We’ve now won 4 in our last 13 I believe. Not including friendlies.

A cb and a forward is all we need. I don’t think it’s asking for too much.

Why are some panicking same squad was 4th top scorers in the league, we didn’t get past Sunderland because we couldn’t defend, we’ve addressed that, and will prob bring a CH in the next 3 weeks,

I'm not suggesting all 8 of Robins' signings are going to set the league on fire. Nor am i saying every player he sigmed for us was world class. I'm merely responding to somebody trying to mock me as a "FootballManager armchair moron. When in reality, a new manager at a new club wants to build their own vision and team. And that 8 or 9 players signed isn't that unrealistic or unheard of.

Stoke stayed up in the last couple of games. We were the 3rd best side in the league after Xmas.

I’d suggest that illuminates the respective transfer windows.

Adding to this point as well, what is the sake of signing 8, 10, 15 or whatever number of players?

Last year we finished 5th, we knew the positions that needed addressing this summer to improve the squad, did we ever as many as 8 players? No.

We do still need a striker as a priority and if I’m being greedy a LCB, but beyond that it’s just upgrading what we are selling if we can.

What Stoke do and who they sign is frankly not comparable to us at all.

Frank Lampard had this to say earlier:

“Ephron had a bit of a sore groin. I’m not saying I had to play him but he’s our naturally left-sided winger in the team so there are definitely things in and around the scenes where we are slightly that little percent out around the box.”

Reading between the lines, he’s got to be all in for a new winger.

Nah, Kone is a good player but 18 goals in L1 is v good but Toney was a goal every 1.3 games… He’s not at that level yet.

Intriguing signing and at £3m, a reasonable price tag.

Few CF’s that look like they could be good options from abroad if we sell Simms or Asante, not claiming to have watched them or whatnot just looking at a few stats.

So you're saying Allen, Collins, Wilson, Lati, Bidwell, JDS, BTA, Simms, and Eccles are all good enough for a team wanting to push for promotion and/or survive relegation in the PL?
Add to that Mr Cant Stay fit for 7mins, Mr Good when he can be bothered Wright, and ok in patches EMC.

But I'm unrealistic for wanting better versions/replacements for them? I'm not suggesting its done this window, but as it stands, a now 3rd choice LB, a RB (that will get minimal game time if we keep out pricing MVE and he stays) and a GK on loan (granted he was desperately needed) when all of the above need upgrades and moving on? We were 3rd best, after Xmas, but that wasnt when it counted. That wasnt the business end. It was at the business end when these players didnt stand up and be counted. And if we dont address at least 2 or 3 of those issues, we'll still be sat here this time next season, in the championship having the same arguments.

Was it Einstein that said the definition of a fool is somebody that does the same thing over and over and expects different results? Well, at 1230 on Saturday, all bar Rushworth in goal, our fool did the same thing that failed last season. And unless we get 2 or 3 marquee signings before the window closes, dont be shocked if we get the same outcome as last season. Apart from GK (and that's only temporary), we haven't strengthened a single area on the pitch. RB if MVE goes is much a muchness for KKH, and Brau is currently 3rd choice LB. So where have we strengthened/improved this summer? Nowhere.
