Of course.

You've already seen the stats.

So same question. Do we play him on the left instead of EMC or do we play him in the middle and EMC on the left?

We've gone back to this subject where Wright was supposed to be left footed so that was a reason to play him on the left. Remember the video of him where he was asked about his favourite position and is he better on his left?

With how Lampard wants to play I would've thought EMC will be the preferred choice on the left.

He wants his wingers to create and deliver crosses into the box. It's not that Haji doesn't do that, but he's far more direct and will often look to get a shot away.

EMC has shown glimpses of what he's capable of and if he can extend that across a full season there's nothing to suggest he couldn't get 20 goal contributions by next summer.

You can see why Frank loves Tats. Tats is happy to cut inside and create the space for MVE / KKH to overlap. EMC is better at that than Wright too.

wright is a bigger goal threat out wide than Tats or EMC but is worse defensively than both.

I think this is why Frank plays Wright through the middle.

Robins played Wright on the left. He got the sack for our poor results. Lampard plays him in the middle. Lampard is said to be a much better manager.

But what makes me laugh is those who say we don't need another striker but we need another winger. Then they say we should play our only striker who is scoring goals on the wing and leave nowhere for our winger on the left.

I would love to sign another decent striker. When Wright is finally fit he could play anywhere across the front line including on the left. Having interchangeable players running forwards creates havoc. But whatever happens I have faith in Lampard and King certainly seems to be backing him.

I don’t think Lampard is a manager who looks to play off the cuff, he’s not Harry Redknapp. Frank wants players to play to a shape, to know their position etc. I can’t recall either Tats or Wright /EMC swapping wings mid match unless it was the outcome of a substitution.

I think we need Wright to play up front anyway as he causes an imbalance playing on the left as he doesn't track back as naturally as a winger would. That's not a slight on him as he's a forward by trade but it does cause an imbalance and I think we're a lot weaker there than we are on the right with Saka and MVE/KKH.

With our other striking options it's not a debate either really. If we got another top forward option in and moved on the others then Wright would be perfect flexibility over the two positions.

I agree to a certain degree but the issue is that Wright just doesn’t seem like a natural striker, the way he plays suits cutting in from the left. We need a proper quality striker who’s clinical, makes darting runs through defences and someone that can score with their head, as a lot of chances we create under Lampard comes through crossing the ball in. Wright is better with the ball at his feet and for some reason isn’t that great with his head considering his height. A proper clinical striker with good vision and pace is what we need, they’ll unfortunately be that issue with Wright not tracking back properly but that’s just how it is, if his game was absolutely perfect he wouldn’t be playing for us tbh.

There were times Wright went to the left and EMC then went to the middle during attacks. There was also a few times they got in each others way. But as they played more it happened less. This will be sorted out on the training ground and with game time.

Wonder now Sargent has said fuck off to Wolfsburg if they’ll look at Wright especially if he’s open for a move.

I like Wright but don’t think, unless Lampard changes tactics, we’ll get the best out of him. Much better on the transition like all of our strikers (which makes sense as it’s a Robins team)

Are we saying that we are now just short of an experienced quick CB, cover for RW and a striker who actually scores and maybe another LB if we shift two out? Any names that suit these vacancies?

Do you remember the game against Sunderland? Only a natural, clinical striker would put a performance in like that.

For the roles mentioned who’s been rumoured

CB - Rob Holding. Experienced CB, was linked in January. Had a decent loan at Sheffield and he is available. Wages might be an issue

RW/ST - Adriano Bertaccini. Young ST (24) able to play LW, RW, CAM, ST. Scored 21 in 33 games in the pro league. Linked earlier in the window. Available for 5/6 million euros. Quick ST with good movement, drops back in possession to help play through the middle.

There's a long way to go yet. We have over a month before we even know who could be sold. The only 2 players we know 100% we will start with are KKH and Rushworth. It wouldn't surprise me if Robins came in for a player or two.

24 league games in 3 years, 29 so no resale value. His wages would be relatively big as well.

Also enjoying the commotion over suggesting we head into the season with 3 starting-quality players to cover the front 3 positions. I want a striker and a RW to be honest.

Would imagine it’d be a season-long loan if it were to happen. I think it’s a very good option myself.

Experienced CB of decent quality are hard to come by. Shame we didn’t get Joe Worrall, last year

If we wanted CB with resale value, Ethan Pye would be a shout. Left footed young CB with good ball playing and defensively solid. Although he’s joining from a lower league so would need to step up.

Lampard is clearly desperate to play EMC on the left, but we will need him to step up a gear this season and stay fit if he’s going to do a better job there than Wright would.

I don’t think it’s an experienced CB we need. It’s an athletic quick one. If we were playing a back 5 yes.

it’s clear that grimes is the organiser and leader from position on the pitch

To me the biggest question is Wright keeping fit. He hasn't been right most of the time since his injury. He still isn't right just 2 weeks before the season starts. And when he is back he will be behind everyone else with match fitness.

If we had more time I’d pitch both. As I do think an experienced CB would work wonders for Thomas’s development as it did for McNally and Doyle with Faz.

As think he needs to remove the silly errors from this game. However if we want to play the line as high as we do Kitching is exposed at times due to his pace.

Think at this point it’s likely only to be one so I might lean a bit more to a starting LCB especially if Daily Mail is true and Binks has interest

Spot on.

it’s the reason Milan was less marauding last season. We need his pace to cover across the centre half’s.

I think if we could move Simms on we should. But as far as the CF role goes I think BTA got a bit of a bad press last year. Often out of position. When he did play central he looked dangerous. The priority should be more depth at CH. Thomas and Kitching are ok. Beyond that we’re struggling.

To be honest apart from the odd good game I thought BTA didn't look very good wherever he played.

I think the main reason I’d want keep simms is because I just get the feeling if he went somewhere else he’d score a shed load. Which would irritate me.

Bamford looks like he's fell out of love with football, just offered nothing the last year or so. If we got him fairly cheap I wouldn't complain could be useful if Lampard can get some fire in his belly again

I often think of that absolutely dominant header by Wright against Oxford and wonder why we don't see it more often.
